members for enquiry.
Deadline for CENELEC: 2024-09-06.

It has been drawn up by CLC/TC 61.

If this draft becomes an amendment, CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which
stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any alteration.

This draft amendment was established by CENELEC in three official versions (English, French, German).
A version in any other language made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to
the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre has the same status as the official versions.

9 This document has been prepared under a standardization request addressed to CENELEC by the European
10 Commission. The Standing Committee of the EFTA State subsequently approves these requests for its
11 Member States.

14 1 Modification to the Introduction
15 Addition:
16 With European amendment A11, EN 60335-2-21:2021+A1:2021 is superseded.
17 This European amendment A11 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of the standards below:

20 2 Modification to Clause 1, “Scope”
21 Replace the fourth paragraph starting with "As far as is practicable …" up to "… in general, it does not take
22 into account " except for the dashed items with the following:
23 “This standard deals with the reasonably foreseeable hazards presented by appliances and machines that are
24 encountered by all persons. However, in general, it does not take into account:”
25 Add before the fifth paragraph starting with “Attention is drawn to the fact” the following:
26 “It is recognized that people with disabilities can have needs beyond the level addressed in this standard.”

32 In the fourth paragraph starting with “The instructions shall state the substance of the following”, add the
33 following dashed items:

35 — Children aged from 3 years are only allowed to operate the tap connected to the water heater.
36 — the intended use of the appliance as covered by the scope of this standard;
37 — instructions regarding user maintenance and operation of the appliance and, if necessary, instructions for
38 the training of operators;
39 — instructions designed to enable adjustment and maintenance to be carried out safely, including the
40 protective measures that should be taken during these operations;
41 — the conditions under which the appliance is stable during use, dismantling when out of use, testing or
42 foreseeable breakdowns;
43 — the operating method to be followed in the event of accident or breakdown to prevent unsafe actions.”
44 Add the following:
45 “The instructions shall also state the maximum weight of the appliance including accessories and its
46 packaging.”

48 The instructions shall state that any repairs shall be carried out by competent persons.

52 highest setting and maximum duration of operation that can be set for remote operation.

61/6883A/INF. The above sentence is mandatory for addressing the ERs and link the
standard to RED
