Personal protective equipment against falls from a height - Fall arrest systems
This European Standard specifies the terminology and the general requirements for fall arrest systems which serve as personal protective equipment against falls from a height. This European Standard additionally describes examples of how components or assemblies of components may be connected into a fall arrest system. These examples should enable the purchaser or user to assemble all components in a correct manner and to build up a fall arrest system.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Terminologie und allgemeine Anforderungen für Auffangsysteme fest, die als Persönliche Schutzausrüstungen gegen Absturz Verwendung finden. Diese Europäische Norm gibt außerdem Beispiele dafür, wie Bestandteile oder Zusammenstellungen von Bestandteilen zu ein Auffangsystem verbunden werden können. Durch diese Beispiele sollte der Käufer oder Benutzer in die Lage versetzt werden, alle Bestandteile richtig zusammenzustellen und zu einem Auffangsystem zusammenzufügen.

En outre, la présente Norme européenne décrit, au moyen d'exemples, la maniere dont les composants ou les assemblages de composants peuvent etre reliés dans un systeme d'arret des chutes. Ces exemples devraient permettre a l'acheteur ou a l'utilisateur d'assembler correctement tous les composants et de constituer un systeme d'arret des chutes.

An energy dissipating function may be incorporated in the device itself or an energy absorbermay be incorporated in the retractable lanyard2.10guided type fall arresterfall arrester with a self-locking function and a guide facility. The guided type fall arrester travels along an anchor line,accompanies the user without requiring manual adjustment during upward or downward changes of position and locksautomatically on the anchor line when a fall occurs2.11guided type fall arrester including a rigid anchor linesub-system consisting of a rigid anchor line, a self-locking guided type fall arrester which is attached to the rigidanchor line and a connector or a connector-terminated lanyard.
