This document is applicable to pin-index yoke-type valve connections for medical gas cylinders, with a working pressure up to a maximum of 200 bar or test pressure up to a maximum of 300 bar, or both.
NOTE 1 This type of connection is primarily used for small cylinders (5 l or below).
NOTE 2 In this document the unit bar is used, due to its universal use in the field of technical gases. It should, however, be noted that bar is not an SI unit, and that the corresponding SI unit for pressure is Pa (1 bar = 105 Pa = 105 N/m2).
This document specifies:
— basic dimensions;
— requirements for alternative designs of the yoke-type valve connections;
— dimensions and positions for the holes and pins for the outlet connections.
It also specifies the dimensions and positions for the holes and pins for the outlet connections for gases and gas mixtures.

This European Standard specifies the requirements for inspection and maintenance of LPG cylinder valves, either manually operated or self-closing, for reuse. It applies when the valve is either inspected or refurbished at the time of periodic inspection of the cylinder.
This European Standard may also be applied at any other time, for example, when maintenance of the valve is necessary.

This document specifies the procedures and acceptance criteria for manufacturing tests and
examinations (sometimes called "initial inspection and tests") of valves designed and type tested in
accordance with ISO 10297.
This document is applicable to:
a) cylinder valves intended to be fitted to refillable transportable gas cylinders;
b) main valves (excluding ball valves) for cylinder bundles;
c) cylinder valves or main valves with integrated pressure regulator (VIPR);
d) valves for pressure drums and tubes.
NOTE Where there is no risk of ambiguity, cylinder valves, main valves, VIPR and valves for pressure drums
and tubes are addressed with the collective term “valves” within this document.
The principles of these manufacturing tests and examinations can be beneficially applied to cylinder
valves type tested to national or International Standards other than ISO 10297.

This document specifies the requirements for design, specification, type testing and production testing
and inspection for dedicated LPG self-closing cylinder valves for use with and directly connected to
transportable refillable LPG cylinders.
It also includes requirements for associated equipment for vapour and liquid service. Bursting discs
and/or fusible plugs are not covered in this document.
Annex A identifies requirements for production testing and inspection.
This document excludes other LPG cylinder devices which are not an integral part of the dedicated selfclosing
cylinder valve.
This document does not apply to cylinder valves for fixed automotive installations and ball valves.
NOTE For manually operated LPG cylinder valves see ISO 15995. For cylinder valves for compressed,
dissolved and other liquefied gases see ISO 10297, ISO 17871 or ISO 17879.

This document specifies the requirements for design, specification, type testing and production testing
and inspection of dedicated LPG manually operated cylinder valves for use with and directly connected
to transportable refillable LPG cylinders.
It also includes requirements for associated equipment for vapour and liquid service. Bursting discs
and/or fusible plugs are not covered in this document.
Annex B identifies requirements for production testing and inspection.
This document excludes other LPG cylinder devices which are not an integral part of the dedicated

This European Standard specifies the design, testing and marking requirements for spring loaded pressure relief valves (PRV), for use in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders.
These PRVs can be either an integral part of a cylinder valve (see EN ISO 14245 [3] and EN ISO 15995 [4]) or a separate device.
This European Standard does not exclude the use of other designs of pressure relief devices that provide a similar level of safety.

This document, in conjunction with ISO 10297 and ISO 14246, specifies design, type testing, marking
and manufacturing tests, and examinations requirements for quick-release cylinder valves intended to
be fitted to refillable transportable gas cylinders, pressure drums and tubes which convey:
— non-toxic;
— non-oxidizing;
— non-flammable; and
— non-corrosive;
compressed or liquefied gases or extinguishing agents charged with compressed gases to be used for
fire-extinguishing, explosion protection, and rescue applications.
NOTE 1 The main application of such quick-release cylinder valves is in the fire-fighting industry. However,
there are other applications such as avalanche airbags, life raft inflation and similar applications.
NOTE 2 Where there is no risk of ambiguity, gas cylinders, pressure drums and tubes are addressed with the
collective term “cylinders” within this document.
This document covers the function of a quick-release cylinder valve as a closure.
This document does not apply to quick-release cylinder valves for cryogenic equipment and for liquefied
petroleum gas (LPG).
This document does not apply to quick-release cylinder valves if used as the main closure of portable
fire extinguishers because portable fire extinguishers are not covered by transport regulation.
Quick-release cylinder valves of auxiliary refillable propellant gas cylinders used within or as part of
portable fire extinguishers are covered by this document, if these cylinders are transported separately,
e.g. for filling (see UN Model Regulations, Chapter 3.3, Special Provision 225, second note[1]).

This document provides requirements for the selection of safe combinations of metallic cylinder and
valve materials and cylinder gas content.
The compatibility data given is related to single gases and to gas mixtures.
Seamless metallic, welded metallic and composite gas cylinders and their valves, used to contain
compressed, liquefied and dissolved gases are considered.
NOTE In this document the term “cylinder” refers to transportable pressure receptacles, which also include
tubes and pressure drums.
Aspects such as the quality of delivered gas product are not considered.

This European Standard specifies basic connection dimensions of LPG cylinder valves (manufactured in accordance with EN ISO 14245 and EN ISO 15995) and connectors (including pressure regulators) to enable them to be safely connected together.
NOTE 1 Figure 1 (type G.1) to Figure 19 (type G.33) give the types of threaded outlet connections.
NOTE 2 Figure 20 (type G.50) to Figure 34 (type G.66) give the types of non-threaded outlet connections.
This European Standard lists potentially unsafe connections where it may be possible to connect together, but which, when connected, may not be sound or secure in some operating conditions or orientations.
This European Standard specifies a marking system that is intended to ensure that only valves and connecters that are marked with the same connector type number are used in combination.
This European Standard also recommends tightening torques for the attachment of screwed metal-to-metal connections.
Quality assurance systems, production testing and particularly certificates of conformity are not covered in this standard.
This European Standard excludes connections for automotive vehicles covered by UN/ECE Regulation No. 67 Part 1 and EN 13760.
This European Standard excludes connections for gas cartridges covered by EN 417.

This document specifies the design, type testing, marking and manufacturing tests and examinations
requirements for self-closing cylinder valves intended to be fitted to refillable transportable gas
cylinders which convey compressed, liquefied or dissolved gases.
NOTE 1 The main applications for such self-closing cylinder valves are in the calibration gas and beverage
industries.
This document covers the function of a self-closing cylinder valve as a closure.
NOTE 2 Requirements for standard cylinder valves are given in ISO 10297. Requirements for quick-release
cylinder valves are given in ISO 17871.
This document is not applicable to self-closing cylinder valves for cryogenic equipment, for portable fire
extinguishers, or for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
NOTE 3 Requirements for valves for cryogenic vessels are specified in ISO 21011 and at a regional level, for
example, in EN 1626. Requirements for valves for portable fire extinguishers at a regional level are specified, for
example, in EN 3 series. Requirements for self-closing LPG cylinder valves are specified in ISO 14245.
NOTE 4 Additional requirements for pressure-relief devices might be specified in international/regional
regulations/standards.
