SIST ES 202 336-8 V1.1.1:2009 is the Slovenian adoption of ETSI ES 202 336-8 Version 1.1.1, published by SIST. It specifies the monitoring and control information model for remote power feeding systems used to supply telecommunication equipment, including the XML structure and the minimum information exchanged at the interface.

What does SIST ES 202 336-8 V1.1.1:2009 specify?

SIST ES 202 336-8 V1.1.1:2009 applies to monitoring and control of remote power feeding systems for telecommunication equipment. It defines the system architectures to be monitored, the minimum exchanged information described in text tables, and the XML files whose tags and variables match those tables.

The document is organized into four clauses and four annexes. Clause 4 explains the Remote Power Feeding System, while Annex A defines the XML structure and elements, Annex B lists mandatory monitoring and supervision information, Annex C lists additional non-mandatory information, and Annex D gives the bibliography.

AnnexWhat it covers
Annex AMandatory XML structure and elements
Annex BMandatory monitoring/supervision information and functions
Annex CNon-mandatory monitoring/supervision information and functions
Annex DBibliography

What are the key requirements of SIST ES 202 336-8 V1.1.1:2009?

The core requirement in this standard is to describe remote power feeding systems in a way that can be exchanged through XML and monitored consistently. In practice, that means manufacturers and operators need a common structure for the system model and a minimum data set for supervision.

System architecture and power flow

Clause 4 describes a remote power feeding system as a way to transfer power from a central site to a remote site over multiple copper pairs. The system includes one or more Up Converter system at the office site and one or more Down Converter System at the remote site. This matters because the monitoring model follows the physical power path, so the control system can report what is happening at each stage.

Clause 4 also states that one XCU can monitor and control several remote power feeding systems through a field bus. The field bus is outside the scope of this document, so the standard focuses on the information model rather than the transport network itself.

XML structure

Annex A makes the XML structure normative. A remote power feeding system is a child of a site energy system in the site DGU XML structure, and an XCU generates a remote_power_feeding.xml document that can be embedded in site.xml. This is important for integration work because the same data model can be exchanged either as a standalone file or as part of a wider site description.

Annex A also defines the allowed child elements of <remote_power_feeding> and <remote_site>. That gives implementers a fixed structure for encoding detailed system data, including optional sub-equipments at the remote site such as down_converter_system, sensors_actuators, and air_conditioning_system.

Mandatory supervision data

Annex B provides the mandatory monitoring and supervision information that must be available in all cases. It covers the remote power feeding system itself, the up converter system, and the remote site. For the up converter system, the minimum set includes failure conditions, fan failures, input voltage, temperature, and counts of failed converters or cards.

For the remote site, Annex B includes failure and event conditions, such as down converter failures, fan failures, reduced power feed, and distribution breaker open, plus data such as the number of configured power lines, input voltage, temperature, output voltage, and number of down converters. In practice, this is the data an operator needs to alarm, log, and diagnose problems.

Optional information

Annex C gives additional non-mandatory monitoring and supervision information. It is structured for the remote power feeding system, the up converter system, the remote site, and the down converter system. This lets a manufacturer add more detail when a site needs deeper reporting without changing the mandatory model.

What terms does SIST ES 202 336-8 V1.1.1:2009 define?

  • Remote Feeding Telecommunication circuit - A secondary circuit intended to supply or receive d.c. power via a telecommunication network at voltages above TNV limits.
  • RFT-C circuit - An RFT circuit designed so current stays within defined values under normal and single-fault conditions.
  • RFT-V circuit - An RFT circuit designed so voltage and accessible contact area are limited under normal and single-fault conditions.
  • TNV circuit - A circuit whose voltages stay within specified limits under normal and single-fault conditions, with limited accessible contact area.
  • CU - Control Unit of an equipment.
  • DGU - Data Gathering Unit that stores or provides site data.
  • XCU - XML enabled CU that exchanges the XML model over Ethernet TCP/IP.
  • XML - eXtensible Markup Language used here for the coded interface data.

Who uses SIST ES 202 336-8 V1.1.1:2009?

This standard is used by telecom equipment manufacturers, network operators, integrators, and software developers who need a shared model for remote power feeding supervision. It is relevant when designing the control interface, building the XML exchange, mapping alarms and measurements, or documenting how a site reports power-system status.

Quality and maintenance teams also use it when checking that monitoring data covers the mandatory functions for up converter systems and remote sites. Buyers can use it to compare products against a defined interface model instead of relying on vendor-specific descriptions.

Which standards are used with SIST ES 202 336-8 V1.1.1:2009?

  • ETSI ES 202 336-1 - Provides the generic interface model and the site-level framework used by this part.
  • ETSI EN 300 132-2 - Gives the power supply interface for equipment operated by direct current.
  • ETSI EN 300 132-3 - Gives the power supply interface for equipment operated by rectified current source, alternating current source, or direct current source up to 400 V.
  • ETSI EN 302 099 - Covers powering of equipment in access networks and supports the remote power feeding context.
  • IEC/TR 62102 - Contributes electrical safety classification for interfaces connected to ICT networks.
  • IEC 60950-21 - Gives the safety context for remote power feeding.
  • ETSI ES 202 336-6 - Provides the air conditioning system control and monitoring information model used as an optional child element at remote sites.
  • IEC 60950-1 - Supplies the TNV circuit definition used in the terminology.

What does the SIST ES 202 336-8 V1.1.1:2009 document contain?

The document contains a system description, definitions and abbreviations, and an XML-based information model for remote power feeding. Annex A provides the XML document structure and specific elements, while Annex B gives the tables for the mandatory monitoring items and Annex C gives the optional additional items.

It also includes the remote power feeding system architecture at a practical level: up converter systems, remote sites, converter-related alarms and measurements, and the way these are grouped in XML. For implementation, the most useful parts are the XML structure, the child-element rules, and the tables that map system states and measurements to the interface data.

1 Scope
The present document applies to monitoring and control of remote power feeding systems for telecommunication
equipment.
The present document defines:
• The monitored and controlled remote power feeding system architectures.
• The minimum set of exchanged information required at the interface, described in "natural language" in text
tables.
• The XML files with tags and variables corresponding to the data in the tables.
