SIST ETS 300 445:1998/A1:1998 is the Slovenian adoption of ETSI Amendment A1 to ETS 300 445, the EMC standard for wireless microphones and similar Radio Frequency (RF) audio link equipment. It covers the EMC test methods and emission limits used to assess this equipment, and it is written for manufacturers, test laboratories, and approval authorities working to the EMC Directive.
What does SIST ETS 300 445:1998/A1:1998 specify?
SIST ETS 300 445:1998/A1:1998 specifies the EMC-related parts of ETS 300 445 for wireless microphones and similar RF audio link equipment. It also shows how the document is being aligned for harmonized EMC use together with ETS 300 454 and for equipment within the scope of I-ETS 300 422.
The amendment is organized around a replaced foreword and three normative annexes.
| Annex | What it covers |
|---|---|
| B | EMC-relevant clauses of ETS 300 445, including emission and immunity test methods |
| C | EMC-relevant clauses of I-ETS 300 422, including spurious emission limits for transmitters and receivers |
| D | ERC Decision on approval regulations for wireless microphones in the 25 MHz to 3 GHz range |
What are the key requirements of SIST ETS 300 445:1998/A1:1998?
The amendment points users to the EMC test methods and limit values that matter for conformity assessment. In practice, this means checking both emissions and immunity in the relevant operating states and ports.
Emission tests for transmitters, receivers and ancillary equipment
Annex B links clause 8 of ETS 300 445 to emission testing of enclosure ports, DC power input/output ports, and AC mains power input/output ports. For users, this means the equipment has to be assessed not only as a radio device but also through the ports and enclosures that can leak unwanted emissions.
Immunity tests for realistic disturbances
Annex B also links clause 9 to immunity tests such as radio frequency electromagnetic field, electrostatic discharge, fast transients common mode, RF common mode current clamp injection, vehicular transients and surges, voltage dips and interruptions, and common and differential mode transients. In practice, the equipment has to remain acceptable when exposed to common electrical and radio disturbances found in real installations.
Spurious emissions from transmitters
Annex C covers transmitter spurious emissions and separates operation from standby conditions. It also distinguishes frequency regions below 1 000 MHz and above 1 000 MHz, so compliance work needs the right measurement setup for each band and state.
Spurious emissions from receivers
Annex C also covers receiver spurious emissions, with limits for 25 MHz to 1 000 MHz and for frequencies above 1 000 MHz. The annex states that the measurement methods are contained in I-ETS 300 422, so users need to pair the limit values here with the measurement procedures in that companion standard.
Approval regulations for wireless microphones
Annex D reproduces the ERC Decision for approval regulations for wireless microphones in the 25 MHz to 3 GHz range used in the mobile service. It shows the regulatory route for national type approval and identifies the parameters taken from I-ETS 300 422, including frequency error, carrier power, channel bandwidth, spurious emissions, transient frequency behaviour, and receiver spurious emissions.
Spectrum-management choices
Annex D also notes that some parameters are subject to national licensing requirements and can be left to national choice. In practice, this matters for manufacturers and regulators because not every spectrum-management parameter is handled the same way in every country.
What terms does SIST ETS 300 445:1998/A1:1998 define?
- EMC - ElectroMagnetic Compatibility, the ability of equipment to function without causing or suffering unacceptable electromagnetic disturbance.
- RES - Radio Equipment and Systems, the ETSI technical area named in the standard title.
- RF - Radio Frequency, used here for audio link equipment operating by radio.
- I-ETS - Interim European Telecommunications Standard, the companion standard framework referenced by the amendment.
- ERC - European Radiocommunications Committee, the body named in Annex D.
- CEPT - European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations, the organization named in the approval decision.
- e.i.r.p. - equivalent isotropically radiated power, a spectrum-management parameter named in Annex D.
- erp - equipment effective radiated power, used in the receiver and transmitter approval tables.
Who uses SIST ETS 300 445:1998/A1:1998?
SIST ETS 300 445:1998/A1:1998 is used by manufacturers of wireless microphones and similar RF audio link equipment, EMC test laboratories, and conformity assessment teams. It is also used by national approval authorities and regulators that need a common basis for type approval and harmonized EMC treatment. In practice, it supports product design, pre-compliance testing, formal testing, and regulatory approval work for audio and radio equipment.
What changed in SIST ETS 300 445:1998/A1:1998 from the previous edition?
This amendment modifies ETS 300 445 (1996). It replaces the foreword, adds the harmonized EMC standard language linked to ETS 300 454 and Council Directive 89/336/EEC, and inserts normative Annexes B, C, and D. Those additions identify the EMC-relevant clauses, the spurious-emission limits, and the ERC Decision for approval regulations.
Which standards are used with SIST ETS 300 445:1998/A1:1998?
- ETS 300 454 - named as the companion ETS in the planned harmonized EMC standard arrangement.
- I-ETS 300 422 - provides the technical characteristics and test methods for wireless microphones in the 25 MHz to 3 GHz range, and Annex C points to it for measurement methods.
- Council Directive 89/336/EEC - the EMC Directive referenced in the harmonized-standard context.
- CEPET Recommendation T/R 20-06 - named as the basis used by I-ETS 300 422.
- CEPT Recommendation T/R 01-05 - named in Annex D for transitional arrangements.
What does the SIST ETS 300 445:1998/A1:1998 document contain?
The document contains a clause-to-directive mapping in Annex B, including the test methods used for emissions and immunity assessment. Annex C contains transmitter and receiver spurious-emission limit tables and points users to I-ETS 300 422 for measurement procedures. Annex D reproduces the ERC Decision and its annexes, including the approval parameters and the national variation information for power and channel bandwidth. Together, these parts support EMC testing, compliance documentation, and approval decisions for wireless microphone equipment.
