IS0 7711-2:1992(E) Foreword IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through IS0 technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, govern- mental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. IS0 collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization. Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an Inter- national Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD IS0 771 l-2:1 992(E) Dental rotary instruments - Diamond instruments - Part 2: Discs 1 Scope IS0 7711, published in 1984, contains 29 shapes of diamond instruments. This part of IS0 7711 specifies flat diamond discs used commonly in daily dental practice in the dental surgery. Five shapes have been selected with their specific dimensions. Additional types of discs will follow as deliberations continue. Attention is drawn to IS0 6360-I and IS0 6360-2 which specify a 15 digit number for the identification of dental rotary instruments of all types. NOTE 1 The various dimensional and other require- ments specified for diamond instruments are those con- sidered important to ensure the interchangeability of these instruments. 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this part of IS0 7711.
