Flexible insulating sleeving - Part 2: Methods of test
IEC 60684-2:2025 gives methods of test for flexible insulating sleeving, including heat-shrinkable sleeving, intended primarily for insulating electrical conductors and connections of electrical apparatus, although they can be used for other purposes. The tests specified are designed to control the quality of the sleeving but it is recognized that they do not completely establish the suitability of sleeving for impregnation or encapsulation processes or for other specialized applications. Where necessary, the test methods in this document will be supplemented by appropriate impregnation or compatibility tests to suit the individual circumstances. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2011.This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) major update of normative references; b) revision of Clause 5, with amendment of methods for measurements of bore and wall thickness; c) revision of Clause 11, to clarify that the longitudinal change test is done on expanded sleeving; d) revision of Clause 28, additional method D for flame propagation testing; e) revision of Clause 56, additional method for preparation of samples for adhesive peel test; f) addition of Clause 63, abrasion test method; g) addition of Clause 64, volume resistivity for semi-conducting materials; h) addition of Clause 65, outgassing; i) addition of Clause 66, resistance to weathering.

L'IEC 60684-2:2025 donne les méthodes d'essai pour les gaines isolantes souples, y compris les gaines thermorétractables, initialement conçues pour isoler les conducteurs électriques et les connexions des appareils électriques, même si elles peuvent être utilisées à d'autres fins. Les essais spécifiés sont conçus pour contrôler la qualité des gaines, mais il reste entendu qu'ils ne permettent pas d'établir entièrement l'aptitude de celles-ci à l'imprégnation ou à l'enrobage, pas plus que leur aptitude à être utilisées pour d'autres applications spécialisées. S'il y a lieu, les méthodes d'essai spécifiées dans le présent document sont complétées par des essais appropriés d'imprégnation ou de compatibilité en fonction des cas particuliers. Cette quatrième édition annule et remplace la troisième édition parue en 2011. Cette édition constitue une révision technique. Cette édition inclut les modifications techniques majeures suivantes par rapport à l'édition précédente: a) mise à jour majeure des références normatives; b) révision de l'Article 5, avec modification des méthodes de mesurage du diamètre intérieur et de l'épaisseur de paroi; c) révision de l'Article 11, pour préciser que l'essai de variation longitudinale est effectué sur une gaine expansée; d) révision de l'Article 28, méthode D supplémentaire pour les essais de propagation de la flamme; e) révision de l'Article 56, méthode supplémentaire pour la préparation des échantillons d'essai d'arrachement adhésif; f) ajout de l'Article 63, méthode d'essai d'abrasion; g) ajout de l'Article 64, résistivité transversale pour les matériaux semiconducteurs; h) ajout de l'Article 65, dégazage; i) ajout de l'Article 66, résistance aux intempéries.
