IEC 61784-2 (all parts) defines additional Communication Profiles (CPs) for the existing Communication Profile Families (CPFs) of IEC 61784-1 (all parts) and additional CPFs with one or more CPs. These additional CPs are based on the IEC 61158 series, IEC 61784-1 (all parts) and use provisions from ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3 (commonly known as Ethernet) for the lower communication stack layers. These Real-Time Ethernet (RTE) communication profiles provide Real-Time Ethernet communication solutions able to coexist with ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3 based applications. NOTE 1 All CPs are based on standards or draft standards or International Standards published by the IEC or from standards or International Standards established by other standards bodies or open standards processes. NOTE 2 The RTE communication profiles use ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3 communication networks and its related network components or IEC 61588 and may in some cases amend those standards to obtain RTE features. This document defines: - a common terminology for all CPFs in IEC 61784-2 (all parts) (see 3.1 to 3.3); - conventions to be used in the specification of the RTE communication profiles (see 3.4); - how conformance of a device to a CPF or a CP should be stated (see Clause 4). This document also specifies: - basic principles of performance indicators expressing RTE performance of a CP (see 5.1); - how an application-dependent class could be used to find out a suitable CP to meet application requirements (see 5.2); - characteristics of RTE performance indicators (see 5.3); - the methodology of a conformance test for an RTE end device for one or more CPs (see Clause 6).

L'IEC 61784-2-21:2023 définit la famille de profils de communication 21 (CPF 21). La CPF 21 spécifie un profil de communication (CP) Ethernet en temps réel (RTE) et les composants de réseau connexes basés sur la série IEC 61158 (Type 26), l’ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802‑3 et d’autres normes. Pour chaque profil de communication RTE, le présent document spécifie également les indicateurs de performance RTE correspondants et les dépendances entre ces indicateurs de performance RTE. NOTE 1 Tous les CP sont fondés sur des normes ou projets de normes, ou des Normes internationales, publiés par l’IEC, ou bien sur des normes ou des Normes internationales établies par d’autres organismes de normalisation ou des processus de normalisation ouverts. Standard IEC 61784-2 (vsi deli) določa dodatne komunikacijske profile (CP) za obstoječe družine komunikacijskih profilov (CPF) iz standarda IEC 61784-1 (vsi deli) in dodatne družine komunikacijskih profilov z vsaj enim komunikacijskim profilom. Ti dodatni komunikacijski profili temeljijo na skupini standardov IEC 61158 in standardu IEC 61784-1 (vsi deli) ter uporabljajo določbe iz standarda ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3 (splošno znan kot ethernet) za nižje komunikacijske ravni. Ti komunikacijski profili Real-Time Ethernet (RTE) zagotavljajo soobstoj komunikacijskih rešitev Real-Time Ethernet in aplikacij na osnovi standarda ISO/IEC/IEEE 8802-3.
OPOMBA 1: Vsi komunikacijski profili temeljijo na standardih ali osnutkih standardov ali mednarodnih standardih, ki jih je objavila komisija IEC, oziroma na standardih ali mednarodnih standardih, ki so jih določili drugi organi za standarde ali procesi odprtih standardov.
OPOMBA 2: Komunikacijski profili RTE uporabljajo komunikacijska omrežja v skladu s standardom ISO/IEC 8802-3 maj in z njimi povezane omrežne komponente ali IEC 61588 ter lahko v nekaterih primerih za pridobitev funkcij RTE te standarde spremenijo.
Ta dokument določa:
– skupno terminologijo za vse družine komunikacijskih profilov v standardu IEC 61784-2 (vsi deli) (glej točke od 3.1 do 3.3);
– dogovore, ki jih je treba uporabiti v specifikaciji komunikacijskih profilov RTE (glej 3.4);
– kako naj se navede skladnost naprave z družino komunikacijskih profilov ali komunikacijskim profilom (glej točko 4).
Ta dokument določa tudi:
– osnovna načela kazalnikov uspešnosti, ki izražajo uspešnost RTE komunikacijskega profila (glej 5.1);
– kako bi se lahko razred, ki je odvisen od aplikacije, uporabil za iskanje ustreznega komunikacijskega profila za izpolnitev zahtev aplikacije (glej 5.2);
