EN IEC 63522-56:2025 - "Electrical relays - Tests and measurements - Part 56: Ball Pressure test" (CLC adoption of IEC 63522-56:2025) defines a standardized method to evaluate the resistance of relay materials to mechanical pressure at elevated temperatures. The test helps determine whether polymeric parts used in electrical relays will undergo undue deformation during transportation, storage and normal operational use. Note: the test is not applied to ceramic parts.

- 125 °C ± 2 °C for parts that support active parts - whichever is higher.
- Test apparatus & setup: Specimen supported horizontally on a 3 mm steel plate; steel ball 5 mm diameter pressed with force 20 N ± 0.2 N (ball must not move).
- Test cycle: Maintain load for 1 hour at test temperature, remove ball, cool specimen by immersion in water for 10 s (water at reference ambient temperature), then measure impression diameter within 3 minutes to 0.1 mm accuracy.
- Evaluation and reporting: Measure and report impression diameters and test conditions; see EN IEC 63522-56 for required test report elements.
