Round and sawn timber - Method of measurement of features
This standard specifies the methods of measuring features taken into account in the visual grading of sawn, processed and round timber for appearance or to assess its mechanical properties. It does not apply to the strength grading of structural timber (see EN 518 and EN 519). This standard applies to hardwood and softwood sawn timber, both square edged and unedged, to processed timber and to round timber. This standard does not apply to tropical timber.
Rund- und Schnittholz - Messung der Merkmale
Diese Norm definiert die Verfahren zur Messung von Merkmalen, bei der visuellen Sortierung nach dem Aussehen von Rundholz, Schnittholz und weiterbearbeitetem Holz oder zur Abschätzung ihrer mechanischen Eigenschaften. Sie gilt nicht fürdie Sortierung von Bauholz nach der Festigkeit (EN 518 und EN 519). Diese Norm bezieht sich auf parallel besäumtes und unbesäumtes Schnittholz sowie auf bearbeitetes Holz und Rundholz von Laub- und Nadelholzarten. Auf Tropenholz ist diese Norm nicht anzuwenden.

La présente norme européenne définit les méthodes de mesure des singularités prises en compte dans le classement visuel des bois sciés, des bois usinés, ou pour estimer leurs propriétés mécaniques (voir EN 518 et EN 519)/ Cette norme s'applique aux bois feuillus et résineux sciés, avivés ou non, aux bois usinés et aux bois ronds. Cette norme ne s'applique pas aux bois tropicaux.
