This European Standard applies to main line rail vehicles which carry passengers with the exception of suburban vehicles, metros, tramways and driving cabs. This European Standard establishes comfort parameters for compartments or saloons (double-decker or not). These comfort parameters apply in a similar way to the areas reserved for train staff, with the exception of the catering service areas. The conditions under which the physical parameters mentioned in this European Standard shall be measured are defined in prEN 13129-2 Type tests 4).

Diese Europäische Norm gilt für Schienenfahrzeuge des Fernverkehrs zur Beförderung von Personen; davon ausgenommen sind Vorortbahnen, U-Bahnen, Straßenbahnen und Führerräume. Die Behaglichkeitsparameter gelten sinngemäßfür Räume, die für das Zugbegleitpersonal bestimmt sind; davon ausgenommen sind Wirtschaftsräume für die Gastronomie. Die Meßvorschriften für die in dieser Europäischen Norm angegebenen physikalischen Parameter sind in prEN XXX-24) Typenprüfung definiert.

Cette norme européenne s'applique aux véhicules ferroviaires de grandes lignes transportant des voyageurs à l'exclusion des véhicules de banlieue, métro, tramway et des cabines de conduite. Cette norme européenne précise les paramètres de bien-être des compartiments ou salles (superposés ou non). Les paramètres de bien-être s'appliquent d'une façon analogue aux locaux réservés au personnel d'accompagnement du train, à l'exception des offices de restauration. Les conditions de mesure des paramètres physiques cités dans cette norme européenne sont définies dans prEN XXXX-2 Essais de type 4).
