Furniture - Strength, durability and safety - Requirements for non-domestic tables
This European Standard specifies requirements for the safety, strength and durability of all types of non-domestic tables including those with glass in their construction.
It does not apply to office tables or desks, tables for educational institutions and outdoor tables for which EN standards or drafts exist.
With exception of the stability tests, this standard does not provide assessment of the suitability of any storage features included in non-domestic tables.
It does not include requirements for the durability of castors and height adjustment mechanisms.
It does not include requirements for electrical safety.
It does not include requirements for the resistance to ageing, degradation.

Diese Europäische Norm legt Anforderungen an die Sicherheit, Festigkeit und Dauerhaltbarkeit von allen Arten
von Tischen für den Nicht-Wohnbereich fest, einschließlich Tische mit Bauteilen aus Glas.
Die Norm gilt nicht für Bürotische oder Schreibtische, Tische für Bildungseinrichtungen und Außentische, für
die eigene EN-Normen oder -Normentwürfe bestehen.
Mit Ausnahme der Standsicherheitsprüfungen enthält die Norm keine Bewertung hinsichtlich der Eignung von
Aufbewahrungsvorrichtungen in Tischen für den Nicht-Wohnbereich.
Sie enthält keine Anforderungen an die Dauerhaltbarkeit von Rollen und Höhenverstellvorrichtungen.
Sie enthält keine Anforderungen an elektrische Sicherheit.
Sie enthält keine Anforderungen an die Beständigkeit gegen Alterung, Qualitätsminderung.

La présente Norme européenne prescrit les exigences de sécurité, de résistance et de durabilité s’appliquant à tous les types de tables à usage non domestique, y compris celles comportant du verre.
Elle ne s’applique pas aux tables et bureaux de mobilier de bureau, aux tables pour les établissements d’enseignement ni aux tables d’extérieur, qui font l’objet de normes ou de projets de normes EN.
A l’exception des essais de stabilité, la norme n’a pas pour objet d’évaluer l’aptitude à l’emploi des rangements éventuellement présents dans les tables à usage non domestique.
Elle ne prescrit pas d’exigences relatives à la durabilité des roulettes et des mécanismes de réglage de la hauteur.
Elle ne prescrit pas d’exigence relative à la sécurité électrique.

1 Scope

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this European Standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
accessible parts
parts to which access can easily be gained by the user when the table is in its intended configuration of use
and for which the probability of unintentional user contact is high
3.2
parts accessible during setting up and folding
parts to which access can only be gained when setting up and folding the table
3.3
shear and squeeze point
shear and squeeze points exist if the distance between two accessible parts moving relative to each other is
less than 18 mm or more than 7 mm in any position during movement
4 Test sequence
The tests shall be carried out in the order in which they are listed in this Standard.
5 Safety requirements
5.1 General
The table shall be designed so as to minimise the risk of injury to the user.
