This standard specifies requirements for classification of electrode-flux combinations and all-weld metal in the as welded or stress relieved condition for submerged arc welding of steels with a minimum yield strength higher than 500 MPa. One flux may be classified with different electrodes. The wire electrode is also classified separately based on its chemical composition.

Diese Norm legt Anforderungen für die Einteilung von Draht-/Fülldrahtpulver-Kombinationen sowie von reinem Schweißgut im Schweißzustand oder nach Spannungsarmglühen für das Unterpulverschweißen von Stählen mit einer Mindeststreckgrenze über 500 MPa fest. Ein Pulver kann mit verschiedenen Draht-/Fülldrahtelektroden eingestuft werden. Die Drahtelektrode kann auch gesondert nach ihrer chemischen Zusammensetzung eingeteilt werden.

La présente norme spécifie les exigences relatives à la classification des couples fils-flux et du métal fondu hors dilution en soudage à l'arc sous flux pour l'état brut de soudage ou pour le traitement thermique de relaxation de contraintes des aciers à haute résistance ayant une limite d'élasticité minimale supérieure à 500 MPa. Un flux peut être classifié avec différents fils-électrodes. Le fil-électrode est également classifié séparément d'après sa composition chimique.
