La présente norme européenne spécifie les exigences de sécurité fonctionnelle pour les contrôleurs de signaux de circulation routière. Elle est applicable au matériel de commande des feux installé à titre permanent ou provisoire, à l'exclusion du matériel portatif. Les contrôleurs de signaux de circulation routière définis dans la présente norme européenne sont tenus de commander en toute sécurité les flots de circulation antagonistes, végicules et piétons, p.e. aux carrefours ou aux passages pour piétons, en cas de circulation alternée ou de circulation de véhicules de transport en commun.
