La présente Norme Internationale spécifie une méthode pour déterminer l'angle rémanent des étoffes après pliage. Les résultats obtenus par cette méthode ne donnent pas des résultats directement comparables entre eux, lorsqu'il s'agit d'étoffes de genres très différents. L'attention est attirée sur le fait que, pour certains types d'étoffe, le manque de tenue, l'épaisseur et la tendance à rouler de l'échantillon, peuvent donner naissance à des angles rémanents très mal définis et, par conséquent, à un manque de précision inacceptable dans les mesurages effectués; c'est le cas de la plupart des étoffes de laine et laine mélangée.
