  • Measurement procedure and calculation:

    • Measurements must be taken rapidly to avoid sample heating; allow cooling if necessary.
    • Position photometer vertically at the centre of the marking. Avoid areas with additional printing, overlaps or surface irregularities.
    • Take illuminance readings of the marking (Lmin or Lmark) and of the adjacent cable surface (Lmax) at distances greater than the measuring spot diameter.
    • Contrast is calculated as:
      K = 100 × (Lmax − Lmin) / Lmax
    • The reported contrast value is the average of four individual measurements.
