This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods for marketed and delivered ethanol to be used as an extender for automotive fuel for petrol engine vehicles in accordance with the requirements of EN 228 [5]. It is applicable to ethanol used for blending at all levels up to and including 85 % (V/V).
NOTE For the purposes of this document, the term “% (m/m)” and “% (V/V)” are used to represent the mass fraction, µ, and the volume fraction, φ, respectively.

Diese Europäische Norm legt Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren für angeliefertes bzw. vermarktetes Ethanol fest, das als Streckmittel für Kraftstoffe zum Einsatz in Kraftfahrzeugen mit Ottomotor, in Übereinstimmung mit den Anforderungen von EN 228 [5], Verwendung findet. Die Norm ist für Ethanol für den gesamten Blendbereich bis hin zu und einschließlich 85 % (V/V) Ethanol anwendbar.
ANMERKUNG Für die Zwecke dieses Dokuments wird zur Angabe des Massenanteils einer Substanz μ der Ausdruck „% (m/m)“ und für den Volumenanteil einer Substanz, φ, der Ausdruck „% (V/V)“ verwendet.

La présente Norme européenne prescrit des exigences et des méthodes d’essais pour l’éthanol mis sur le marché et livré pour être utilisé comme composant du carburant automobile pour véhicules à moteur à essence conformément aux exigences de l'EN 228 [5]. Elle est applicable à l’éthanol utilisé dans les mélanges pouvant être incorporé jusqu’à hauteur de 85 % (V/V) compris.
