Fibre-reinforced plastics - Moulding compounds and prepregs - Determination of mass per unit area and fibre mass per unit area (ISO 10352:2020)

This document specifies a method for the determination of the mass per unit area. It also specifies five methods (Method A to Method E) for the determination of the fibre mass per unit area of moulding compounds and prepregs. The five methods are as follows:
—     Method A: Extraction by Soxhlet;
—     Method B: Extraction by immersion in solvent in a beaker;
—     Method C: Decomposition by loss ignition;
—     Method D: Extraction by wet combustion;
—     Method E: Method by calculation.
This document is applicable to the following types of materials:
—     moulding compound and preimpregnated unidirectional sheet, tape, fabric and mats;
—     prepregs in which any type of reinforcement (aramid, carbon, glass, etc.) and any type of matrix (thermosetting or thermoplastic) has been used.
Typically, reinforcement fibres are coated with sizing or finishes. These normally dissolve with the resin and are, therefore, included in the resin content.
This document is not applicable to the following types of prepregs:
—     those containing reinforcements which are soluble (or partly soluble) in the solvents used to dissolve the resin.

Faserverstärkte Kunststoffe - Formmassen und Prepregs - Bestimmung der flächenbezogenen Masse und flächenbezogenen Fasermasse (ISO 10352:2020)

Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der flächenbezogenen Masse fest. Es legt außerdem fünf Verfahren (Verfahren A bis Verfahren E) zur Bestimmung der flächenbezogenen Fasermasse von Formmassen und Prepregs fest. Die fünf Verfahren sind die folgenden:
—   Verfahren A: Soxhlet-Extraktion;
—   Verfahren B: Extraktion durch Eintauchen in ein in einem Becherglas befindliches Lösemittel;
—   Verfahren C: Zersetzung durch Glühverlust;
—   Verfahren D: Extraktion durch Nassverbrennung;
—   Verfahren E: Verfahren durch Berechnung.
Dieses Dokument gilt für die folgenden Arten von Materialien:
—   Formmassen und vorimprägnierte unidirektionale Platten, Bänder, Gewebe und Matten;
—   Prepregs, in denen eine beliebige Art der Verstärkung (Aramid, Kohlenstoff, Glas usw.) und eine beliebige Art der Matrix (wärmehärtbar oder thermoplastisch) verwendet wurden.
Gewöhnlich sind Verstärkungsfasern mit Schlichten oder Appreturen beschichtet. Gewöhnlich lösen sich diese mit dem Harz und sind demzufolge im Harzgehalt enthalten.
Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für die folgenden Arten von Prepregs:
—   diejenigen, die Verstärkungen enthalten, die in den zum Auflösen des Harzes verwendeten Lösemitteln löslich (oder teilweise löslich) sind.

Le présent document spécifie une méthode pour la détermination de la masse surfacique. Il spécifie également cinq méthodes (Méthode A à Méthode E) pour la détermination de la masse des fibres par unité de surface des mélanges à mouler et des préimprégnés. Les cinq méthodes sont les suivantes:
—          Méthode A: Extraction par Soxhlet;
—          Méthode B: Extraction par immersion dans du solvant dans un bécher;
—          Méthode C: Décomposition par perte au feu;
—          Méthode D: Extraction par combustion humide;
—          Méthode E: Méthode par calcul.
Le présent document est applicable aux types de matériaux suivants:
—          mélanges à mouler et feuilles, rubans, tissus et mats préimprégnés à renfort unidirectionnel;
—          préimprégnés, quelle que soit la nature du renfort (aramide, carbone, verre, etc.) et de la matrice (thermodurcissable ou thermoplastique) ayant été utilisés.
Les fibres de renforcement sont généralement revêtues d'un ensimage ou de produits de finition. Ceux-ci se dissolvent normalement dans la résine et sont donc inclus dans la teneur en résine.
Le présent document n'est pas applicable aux types de préimprégnés suivants:
—          ceux contenant des renforcements qui sont solubles (ou partiellement solubles) dans les solvants utilisés pour dissoudre la résine.

in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 249 “Plastics” the secretariat of which is held by
