This European Standard, part 10, specifies the sampling and pre-treatment of upper body protectors against cutting by a hand-held chainsaw, the measurement procedure applicable to the protective coverage, the apparatus and test methods for assessing their resistance to cutting and the practical performance test for evaluating ergonomic properties in relation to part 11 of this European Standard.

Dieser Teil 10 der vorliegenden Europäischen Norm legt für Oberkörperschutzmittel zum Schutz gegen Schnittverletzungen durch handgeführte Kettensägen Probenahme und Vorbehandlung sowie das für den Schutzbereich geeignete Meßverfahren, die Prüfgeräte und Prüfverfahren zur Bewertung des Widerstandes des Schutzbereichs gegen Kettensägen-Schnitte und die Prüfung der praktischen Gebrauchstauglichkeit fest, um mit Bezug auf Teil 11 der vorliegenden Norm die ergonomischen Eigenschaften zu bewerten.

In principle the dry-cleaning shallbe performed in accordance with the conditions described in 9.1 "Process for normal materials" of ENISO 3175:1995 i. e. using conditioned test specimens, perchlorethylene with surfactant, addition of emulsifiedwater, cleaning for 15 min at (30 ± 3) C, draining and extracting, rinsing for 5 min with pure solvent, and drainingand final extraction, followed by tumble drying with an outlet temperature not exceeding 60 C. No restorativefinishing procedure shall be applied.Where the test specimens are marked as suitable for both washing and dry-cleaning.One set of test specimens shall be washed and dried five times and one set of test specimens shall be dry cleanedfive times.b) Where the manufacturer specifies different washing or cleaning procedures these shall be used in preferenceto those above.6 Testing for dimensional changeOne upper body protector shall be tested by each pre-treatment applicable.It shall be subjected to five pre-treatment cycles according to clause 5 of this standard.
