Overview

EN 6075:2017 - "Aerospace series - Static seal elements O‑Ring ethylene‑propylene, moulded, phosphate ester resistant (−55 °C to 107 °C) - Inch series" - is a European Standard published by CEN for aerospace static O‑ring seals. It defines the configuration, dimensions, tolerances and mass for moulded EPM/EPDM O‑rings that are resistant to phosphate ester hydraulic fluids and intended for use as static seals in aerospace hydraulic systems. The standard covers the inch series and specifies continuous operating temperatures from −55 °C to 107 °C.

Key topics and requirements

  • Configuration and drawings: a standard O‑ring profile (reference Figure 1) with defined cross‑section and internal diameter conventions.
  • Dimensions and tolerances: comprehensive inch‑series tables (Table 1) listing diameter codes, nominal internal diameters, cross‑section dimensions, tolerances (in mm and inches) and mass (kg/1000 pieces) for interchangeability and procurement accuracy.
  • Material: Ethylene‑propylene elastomer (EPM/EPDM) per EN 6111 (material standard referenced), ensuring phosphate ester resistance and a specified hardness for long‑term hydraulic application.
  • Designation, marking and packaging: requirements for part identification, traceability and packaging to meet aerospace supply chain needs.
  • Quality and technical specification: clauses on technical data, quality assurance and qualification procedures (see references to EN 9133 for quality management and part qualification).
  • Normative references: links to related aerospace seal specifications such as EN 6109, EN 6111, and quality/qualification standards.

Applications and users

This standard is intended for:

  • Aerospace OEMs and suppliers specifying static seal elements for aircraft hydraulic systems.
  • Design and systems engineers validating seal selection for phosphate ester hydraulic fluids and operating temperature ranges.
  • Procurement and quality managers ensuring purchased O‑rings meet dimensional, material and marking requirements.
  • Maintenance and repair organizations replacing static seals with correctly specified, interchangeable parts.

Practical benefits:

  • Ensures compatibility with phosphate ester fluids and reliable performance across the specified temperature range.
  • Provides a consistent sizing and mass reference for inventory, weight budgeting and logistics.
  • Supports traceability and quality control required in aerospace supply chains.

Related standards

  • EN 6111 - Ethylene‑propylene elastomer (EPM/EPDM) material requirements (hardness and composition).
  • EN 6109 - Technical specification for phosphate ester resistant elastomer moulded static seal elements.
  • EN 9133 - Quality management / qualification procedure for aerospace standard parts.
