This EN establishes a classification system for the corrosivity of atmospheric environments. It: - defines corrosivity categories of the atmospheric environments taking into account ISO 9223; - describes the determination of corrosivity based on assessment of mass loss of standard specimens after the first year of exposure; - can be used to estimate the corrosivity of an environment based on knowledge of local conditions or of specific data that characterize the local conditions, where it is not possible to make an experimental determination.

Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Einteilungssystem für die Korrosivität von atmosphärischen Umgebungen fest. Sie: - definiert Korrosivitätskategorien von atmosphärischen Umgebungen auf der Grundlage von ISO 9223; - beschreibt die Bestimmung der Korrosivität durch Auswertung von Massenverlusten von Standardproben nach dem ersten Jahr der Auslagerung; - kann einer Abschätzung der Korrosivität einer atmosphärischen Umgebung dienen, die auf der Kenntnis örtlicher Bedingungen oder bestimmten Daten beruht, welche die örtliche Umgebungsbedingungen beschreiben, wenn die Bestimmung der Korrosivität nicht möglich ist.
