Frequently Asked Questions
ISO/TC 184/SC 1/WG 10 is a Subcommittee within the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is named "Numerical control systems for machine tools - Technical requirements". This committee has published 2 standards.
ISO/TC 184/SC 1/WG 10 develops ISO standards in the area of Information technology. Currently, there are 2 published standards from this subcommittee.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental international organization that develops and publishes international standards. Founded in 1947 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, ISO brings together experts from 170+ member countries to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.
A Subcommittee (SC) in ISO operates under a Technical Committee and focuses on a specific subset of the TC's scope. Subcommittees develop standards and technical specifications in their specialized area, reporting to their parent Technical Committee. They may also have working groups for detailed technical work.
This document specifies requirements for the integration of numerical control systems (NC systems). It consists of technical and inspection requirements and test methods. This document is applicable to all machine tools using NC systems not already covered by class C standards (including metal cutting machine tools, metal forming machine tools and woodworking machine tools) and for partial assemblies of machine tools (including cabinets and auxiliary devices) intended to be integrated into machine tools. It is also applicable to other production equipment using NC systems. NOTE NC system integration with machine tools is performed mainly by machine tool builders using an NC system to control their machine tools, system integrators by assembling machine tools with the NC system to a production line, and machine tool users by upgrading their existing equipment.
