Frequently Asked Questions
MT 9 is a Technical Committee within the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It is named "TC 51/MT 9". This committee has published 69 standards.
MT 9 develops IEC standards in the area of Information technology. Currently, there are 69 published standards from this technical committee.
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is the world's leading organization for the preparation and publication of international standards for electrical, electronic, and related technologies. Founded in 1906, the IEC provides a global platform for companies, industries, and governments to meet, discuss, and develop the international standards they require.
A Technical Committee (TC) in IEC is a group of experts responsible for developing international standards in a specific technical area. TCs are composed of national member body delegates and work through consensus to create standards that meet global industry needs. Each TC may have subcommittees (SCs) and working groups (WGs) for specialized topics.
IEC 62024-1:2008 specifies electrical characteristics and measuring methods for the nanohenry range chip inductor that is normally used in high frequency (over 100 kHz) range. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) sizes 0402 added in Table 1 and Table 2;
b) contents of 4.4 reviewed for easier understanding;
c) correct errors in 3.1.4.2.

IEC 62025-1:2007 applies to fixed, surface mounted inductors and ferrite beads. Should conflict arise between these specifications and the detail specifications, the latter will take precedence. The object of this standard is to establish requirements for fixed, surface mounted inductors, to describe terms, to give recommendations for standard values and dimensions and to give guidance on fixed, surface mounted inductors. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
- nomenclature of dimensions in Figure 1 has been changed;
- a new Table 1, Letter code for inductance values, has been added;
- dimensions for shapes in Table 2 and Table 5 have been added;
- new operating temperature ratings in Table 9 have been added.
