IEC 60358-4:2018 applies to DC or AC single-phase capacitor-dividers connected between line and ground used for manufacturing Voltage Transformers as well as for other applications. IEC 60358-4:2018 is to be used in conjunction with the latest edition of IEC 60358-1 and its amendments. IEC 60358-4:2018 was established on the basis of the IEC 60358-1:2012. IEC 60358-4:2018 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses in IEC 60358-1:2012. This standard cancels and replaces the second edition of IEC 60358 (1990), and constitutes a technical revision.

IEC 60358-3:2013 applies to AC or DC single-phase coupling capacitor, with rated voltage higher than 1 000 V, connected line to ground with the low voltage terminal either permanently earthed or connected to a tuning device for harmonic-filters applications. IEC 60358-2:2013 applies to AC or DC single-phase coupling capacitors, with rated voltage > 1 000 V, connected between line and ground with a low voltage terminal either permanently earthed or connected to a device for power line carrier-frequency (PLC) applications at frequencies from 30 kHz to 500 kHz or similar applications (DC or AC) at power frequencies from 15 Hz to 60 Hz. The transmission requirements for coupling devices for power line carrier (PLC) systems are defined in IEC 60481. This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 60358-1:2012.

IEC 60358-1:2012 applies to capacitors, with rated voltage >1 000 V, connected line to ground with the low voltage terminal either permanently earthed or connected to devices, for applications listed hereunder and other similar uses. This standard serves as basic standard for the coupling capacitor, the different parts of this standard will present the supplementary specifications and tests, for example IEC 60358-2, IEC 60358-3 or IEC 60358-4. This standard cancels and replaces the second edition of IEC 60358 (1990), and constitutes a technical revision. This edition of IEC 60358-1 includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the former edition of IEC 60358:
- the standard has been split into different parts; Part 1 is the general rules and Parts 2, 3, 4 will be specific to the PLC, filters and dividers applications.
- the routine and type test have been reviewed and are presented in Figure 2.
