CLC/TC 46X/JWG TC46XTC86A - Fire issues
JWG(with TC 86A) To deal with materials and fire issues that are points of common interest of TC 46X and TC 86A, both involved in communication cables, with respect to the specificity, specific installation conditions and uses of these cables. To prepare the relevant documents to evaluate the fire behaviour of communication cables taking into account: - the fire propagation, - the generation of smoke and fumes - the toxicity of smoke and fumes To investigate the need for other special tests (rooms with air flow,...) To consider the classification of communication cables in case of fire. Each of the test methods should be defined to take into account the actual installation and use of communication cables and shall be completed by relevant requirements.Test equipment and apparatus already developed at international level (TC 20 for power cables), should be used as applicable.Test conditions and requirements (sample configuration,...) shall be specified for communication cables. To specify materials to be used in communication cables (excluding optical fibres and metallic conductors themselves).
