Frequently Asked Questions
CEN/TC 209/WG 6 is a Working Group within the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). It is named "Methods of analysis and testing" and is responsible for: Analytical methods for the determination of element contents of zinc and zinc alloy, analytical methods of testing chemical composition of zinc and zinc alloys, provisions for preparation of test solutions and calibration solutions for zinc and zinc alloys. This committee has published 15 standards.
CEN/TC 209/WG 6 develops CEN standards. The scope of work includes: Analytical methods for the determination of element contents of zinc and zinc alloy, analytical methods of testing chemical composition of zinc and zinc alloys, provisions for preparation of test solutions and calibration solutions for zinc and zinc alloys. Currently, there are 15 published standards from this working group.
The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is a public standards organization that brings together the national standardization bodies of 34 European countries. CEN provides a platform for developing European Standards (ENs) and other technical documents in relation to various products, materials, services, and processes, supporting the European Single Market.
A Working Group in CEN is a specialized group responsible for developing standards or technical work within a defined scope. These bodies bring together international experts to create consensus-based standards that support global trade, safety, and interoperability.

ISO 3815-2:2005 specifies analytical methods for determining the chemical composition of zinc and zinc alloys in accordance with ISO 301 and ISO 752 by inductively coupled optical emission spectrometry.
ISO 3815-2:2005 includes provisions for preparation of test solutions and calibration solutions for zinc and zinc alloys.
The ranges specified for each method can be extended and/or adapted for determinations of low concentrations.
ISO 3815-2:2005 can be applied to other elements (e.g. Ni, Cr and Ti). However, such results will need to be carefully checked by taking into account the interferences, the sensivity, the resolution and the linearity criteria for each instrument and each wavelength.
