Applies to nuts with nominal thread diameters up to and including 39 mm, specific mechanical requirements, widths across flats as specified in ISO 272, nominal heights greater than or equal to half the nominal diameter of the internal thread, made of carbon steel or low alloy steel. Does not apply to nuts requiring special properties (such as weldability, corrosion resistance, etc.). Values apply when tests are made at room temperature.

La présente Norme internationale prescrit les caractéristiques mécaniques des écrous avec charges d'épreuve spécifiées, essayés à température ambiante (voir ISO 1). Ces caractéristiques se modifient quand la température augmente ou diminue. La présente Norme internationale s'applique aux écrous -- de diamètre nominal de filetage inférieur ou égal à 39 mm ; --- à filetage ISOtriangulaire de diamètres et de pas conformes à l'ISO 68 et à l'ISO 262 (filetage à pas gros) ; -- de combinaisons diamètre/pas conformes à l'ISO 261 (filetage à pas gros) ; -- de tolérance de filetage 6H conforme à l'ISO965-1 et à l'ISO 965-2 ; -- présentant des caractéristiques mécaniques spécifiques ; -- de cotes surplats conformes à l'ISO 272 ou équivalents ; -- de hauteur nominale supérieure ou égale à 0,5»',;O,5Dl*) ; -- fabriqués en acier au carbone ou en acier faiblement allié. Elle ne s'applique pas aux écrous pour lesquels on exige des caractéristiques spéciales telles que -- capacité de freinage (voir ISO 2320) ; -- soudabilité ; -- résistance à la corrosion (voir ISO 3506) ; -- résistance à des températures supérieures à + 300 °C ou inférieures à - 50 °C.NOTES1 Il convient queles écrous en acier de décolletage ne soient pas utilisés à des températures supérieures à + 250°C 2 Pour les produits spéciaux du type écrous pour vis de constructionà haute résistance ou écrous surtaraudés pour vis galvanisées à chaud, voir l 527es valeurs appropriées dans les normes de produits. 3 Dans les assemblages filetésde tolérances supérieures à 6H/6g, il existe un risque accru d'arrachement du filetage.Voir aussi tableau 1. 4 Dans le cas de tolérances de filetage différentes ou plus larges que 6H, il convient de prendre en considération une diminution de la résistance du filetage à l'arrachement (voir tableau 1).*) D estle diamètre extérieur de base du filetage intérieur (diamètre nominal) conformément à l'ISO 724.
