FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote international
co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To this end and

optic interconnecting devices and passive components, of IEC technical committee TC 86: Fibre
optics.
This first edition cancels and replaces IEC 61753-071-2 published in 2014. This edition
constitutes a technical revision.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to
IEC 61753-071-2:2014.
a) addition of performance requirements of repeatability and switching durability;
b) deleting of performance requirements of directivity;
c) deleting of test of operational shock;
d) change of performance requirements of switching time;

e) change of test condition of high optical power;
f) harmonization of the test conditions with IEC 61753-1:2018.
