1 Scope
This European Telecommunication Standard (ETS) is an introduction to the other parts of this ETS
dealing with the speech processing functions in the TETRA system. In addition to this introduction, this
ETS contains the full specification of the speech CODEC including provisions for specific cases of
operation and optional functionalities plus CODEC conformance testing. In this part, a general overview of
the speech processing parts is given with reference to the ETSs where each part is specified in detail.
2 Normative references
This ETS incorporates, by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications. These
normative references are cited at the appropriate places in the text and the publications are listed
hereafter. For dated references, subsequent amendments to, or revisions of, any of these publications
apply to this ETS only when incorporated in it by amendment or revision. For undated references the latest
edition of the publication referred to applies.
