Ta dokument določa tehnične karakteristike in merilne metode za digitalne fiksne radijske sisteme (DFRS) tipa točka-točka (P-P), ki delujejo v frekvenčnih pasovih, dodeljenih fiksnim storitvam (FS) v območju od 1 GHz do 174,8 GHz, ki ustreza ustreznim frekvenčnim pasom od 1,4 GHz do 174,8 GHz, kot je opisano v ustreznih dodatkih B do L. Sistemi, ki spadajo na področje uporabe tega dokumenta, so na splošno namenjeni delovanju v polnem frekvenčnem dupleksu (FDD) in zajemajo tudi enosmerno uporabo. Vrste uporabe v časovnem dupleksu (TDD) – v določenem pasu, kadar je to mogoče – so posebej navedene v ustreznih dodatkih B do L. Sistemi, ki spadajo na področje uporabe tega dokumenta, lahko vključujejo opremo brez anten (za dodatne informacije glej informativni dodatek Q) ali opremo z vgrajeno (vendar fizično snemljivo) ali namensko anteno. Sistemi z vgrajenimi antenami, ki jih ni mogoče sneti z radijske opreme, ne spadajo na področje uporabe tega dokumenta (glej opombo 1).
