The standard EN 50160:2010/A2:2019 provides a comprehensive framework for evaluating the voltage characteristics of electricity supplied by public electricity networks, addressing critical aspects of power quality. This document is pivotal in standardizing voltage supply parameters across different public electricity networks, ultimately promoting reliability and consistency in power delivery. The amendments introduced in this version reflect the standard’s commitment to remaining relevant and responsive to the evolving demands of the energy market. The integration of the flagged data concept from IEC TS 62749 signifies a forward-thinking approach, enhancing the precision with which voltage characteristics can be monitored and assessed. This incorporation demonstrates the relevance of EN 50160 in addressing contemporary challenges in power quality assessment. Strengthening the document, the introduction of a new chapter focused on the frequency range of 2-150 kHz expands the scope significantly, capturing nuances in power quality that were previously unaddressed. This emphasis on a broader frequency range helps utilities and stakeholders better understand and mitigate issues related to harmonics and electromagnetic interference, aligning with global trends toward more sophisticated power quality management. Overall, EN 50160:2010/A2:2019 stands out for its robust framework that not only facilitates compliance with existing regulations but also anticipates future developments in the power sector. Its ability to guide public electricity network operators in achieving optimal performance enhances its importance as a standard in contemporary electrical engineering practices.
