This European Standard lays down the basic specifications for swap bodies of class C, which are designed as totally enclosed types, e.g. box types or as open types, e.g. platform without or with cover/stake. This standard does not apply to swap bodies having a gross mass of more than 16t (e.g. tank type swap bodies). These swap bodies are suitable for international exchange and for conveyance by road and rail including interchange between these forms of transport

Diese Europäische Norm legt die grundsätzlichen Anforderungen für Wechselbehälter der Klasse C fest, die sowohl als geschlossene Aufbauten, z.B. als Kofferaufbau, als auch als offene Aufbauten, z.B. Pritsche, ohne oder mit Verdeck (Plane und Spriegel) ausgeführt werden. Die Norm gilt nicht für Wechselbehälter über 16 t Gesamtgewicht (z.B. Tank-Bauart). Diese Wechselbehälter können für den internationalen Warenverkehr und die Beförderung auf Strasse und Schiene einschliesslich des Wechsels zwischen diesen Transportarten verwendet werden

La présente Norme Européenne fixe les spécifications de base des caisses mobilesde classe C de construction entièrement fermée, comme par exemple les types fourgons, ou ouverte comme par exemple les plateux avec ou sans bâche et ridelles. La présente norme ne s'applique pas aux caisses mobiles de plus de 16 t de masse brute (comme par exemple les caisses mobiles citernes). Ces caisses mobiles sont destinées au transport combiné international de marchandises rail/route et assurent également le transfert entre ces deux modes de transport.
