Playground equipment and surfacing - Part 1: General safety requirements and test methods
This part of EN 1176 specifies general safety requirements for permanently installed public playground equipment and surfacing. Additional safety requirements for specific pieces of playground equipment are specified in subsequent parts of this standard.
This part of EN 1176 covers playground equipment for all children. It has been prepared with full recognition of the need for supervision of young children and of less able or less competent children.
The purpose of this part of EN 1176 is to ensure a proper level of safety when playing in, on or around playground equipment, and at the same time to promote activities and features known to benefit children because they provide valuable experiences that will enable them to cope with situations outside the playground.
This part of EN 1176 is applicable to playground equipment intended for individual and collective use by children. It is also applicable to equipment and units installed as children's playground equipment although they are not manufactured as such, but exclude those items defined as toys in EN 71 and the Toys Safety Directive.
It is not applicable to adventure playgrounds with the exception of those items which have been commercially sourced.
NOTE Adventure playgrounds are fenced, secured playgrounds, run and staffed in accordance with the widely accepted principles that encourage children's development and often use self-built equipment.
This part of EN 1176 specifies the requirements that will protect the child from hazards that they might be unable to foresee when using the equipment as intended, or in a manner that can be reasonably anticipated.
The use of electricity in play equipment, either as a play activity or as a motive force, is outside the scope of this standard. The attention of users is drawn to European and local national standards and regulations which are to be complied with when using electricity.
Play equipment placed in water and where water can be seen as impact attenuating surfacing is not fully covered by this standard and additional risks are associated with wet environments.
The risk of exposure to excessive levels of UV radiation is not covered in this standard.
Spielplatzgeräte und Spielplatzböden - Teil 1: Allgemeine sicherheitstechnische Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren
Dieser Teil der EN 1176 legt die allgemeinen Sicherheitsanforderungen für standortgebundene öffentliche Spielplatzgeräte und Spielplatzböden fest. Zusätzliche Sicherheitsanforderungen für spezielle Spielplatzgeräte sind in nachfolgenden Teilen dieser Norm festgelegt.
Dieser Teil der EN 1176 gilt für Spielplatzgeräte für alle Kinder. Er wurde in voller Anerkennung der Notwendigkeit von Aufsicht für Kleinkinder und weniger geschickte oder leistungsfähige Kinder erstellt.
Der Zweck dieses Teils der EN 1176 besteht darin, ein geeignetes Sicherheitsniveau beim Spielen in, an oder um Spielplatzgeräte herum sicherzustellen und gleichzeitig Aktivitäten und Eigenschaften zu fördern, die bekanntermaßen den Kindern nützen, da sie wertvolle Erfahrungen liefern, die sie in die Lage versetzen, Situationen außerhalb der Spielplätze zu bewältigen.
Dieser Teil der EN 1176 gilt für Spielplatzgeräte, die für einzelne und gemeinsame Benutzung durch Kinder vorgesehen sind. Er gilt auch für Geräte und Elemente, die als Spielplatzgeräte aufgestellt wurden, obwohl sie nicht als solche hergestellt sind, schließt aber die Geräte aus, die nach EN 71 und der Spielzeug Richtlinie als Spielzeug definiert sind.
Er gilt nicht für Abenteuerspielplätze, mit Ausnahme von dort befindlichen Geräten kommerziellen Ursprungs.
ANMERKUNG Abenteuerspielplätze sind eingezäunte, gesicherte Spielplätze, die entsprechend den pädagogischen Grundsätzen betrieben und personell ausgestattet sind; sie fördern die Entwicklung von Kindern und sind oft mit selbst gebauten Geräten ausgestattet.
Dieser Teil der EN 1176 legt diejenigen Anforderungen fest, die das Kind vor Gefahren schützen, die es möglicherweise nicht voraussehen kann, wenn es das Gerät bestimmungsgemäß oder in einer Art benutzt, die vernünftigerweise erwartet werden kann.
Die Nutzung von Elektrizität bei Spielplatzgeräten, entweder als Spielaktivität oder als Bewegungskraft, befindet sich außerhalb des Anwendungsbereichs dieser Norm. Die Nutzer werden auf die Europäischen und jeweiligen nationalen Normen und Vorschriften hingewiesen, die bei der Nutzung von Elektrizität einzuhalten sind.
Spielgeräte, die sich im Wasser befinden und bei denen Wasser als stoßdämpfender Boden angesehen werden kann, werden in dieser Norm nicht vollständig behandelt. Solche nassen Umgebungen bergen zusätzliche Risiken.
Das Risiko der Aussetzung exzessiver UV-Strahlung wird in dieser Norm nicht behandelt.

La présente partie de l’EN 1176 spécifie les exigences de sécurité générale applicables aux équipements et sols d’aires de jeux publiques installés de façon permanente. Des exigences de sécurité complémentaires à certains équipements d’aires de jeux spécifiques seront définies dans les parties ultérieures de la présente norme.
La présente partie de l’EN 1176 concerne les équipements d’aires de jeux pour tous les enfants. Elle a été élaborée en reconnaissant pleinement la nécessité de surveiller les jeunes enfants ainsi que les enfants présentant moins d’aptitudes ou moins d’habileté.
L’objectif de la présente partie de l’EN 1176 est d’assurer un niveau approprié de sécurité en jouant dans, sur ou autour de l’équipement, et d’encourager en même temps les activités et caractéristiques fonctionnelles connues comme étant profitables aux enfants car elles leur donnent la possibilité d’acquérir une expérience utile qui leur permettra de faire face à d’autres situations hors des aires de jeux.
La présente partie de l’EN 1176 est applicable aux équipements d’aires de jeux destinés à être utilisés de manière individuelle et collective par des enfants. Elle s’applique en outre aux équipements et éléments qui sont installés en tant qu’équipements d’aires de jeux pour enfants, bien qu’à l’origine ils ne soient pas fabriqués à cette fin, mais elle ne s’applique pas aux articles définis comme jouets dans l’EN 71 et dans la directive relative à la sécurité des jouets.
Elle ne s’applique pas aux terrains d’aventure à l’exception des articles qui ont été obtenus dans le commerce.
NOTE Les terrains d’aventures sont des terrains de jeux clôturés, protégés, gérés et dotés de personnel conformément aux principes largement acceptés qui encouragent le développement des enfants et utilisent souvent des équipements construits en interne.
La présente partie de l’EN 1176 spécifie les exigences qui protégeront l’enfant des risques dont il peut ne pas être conscient lorsqu’il utilise l’équipement comme prévu ou d’une manière raisonnablement prévisible.
L’emploi de l’électricité dans les équipements de jeu, que ce soit en tant qu’activité ludique ou que force motrice, n’entre pas dans le domaine d’application de la présente norme. L’attention de l’utilisateur est attirée sur les normes et réglementations européennes et nationales locales qu’il faut respecter en cas d’emploi d’électricité.
Les équipements de jeu qui sont placés dans l’eau et dont l’eau peut être considérée comme un revêtement atténuant l’impact ne sont pas intégralement couverts par la présente norme et il existe des risques supplémentaires associés aux environnements humides.
La présente norme ne couvre pas le risque d’exposition à des niveaux excessifs de rayonnement ultraviolet.

Ta del standarda EN 1176 določa splošne varnostne zahteve za trajno vgrajeno javno opremo in podloge otroških igrišč . Dodatne varnostne zahteve za določene dele opreme za otroška igrišča so opredeljene v nadaljnjih delih tega standarda. Ta del standarda EN 1176 zajema opremo za otroška igrišča za vse otroke. Pripravljen je bil z upoštevanjem potrebe po nadzoru majhnih otrok in manj sposobnih ali manj zmožnih otrok. Namen tega dela standarda EN 1176 je zagotoviti ustrezno raven varnosti med igranjem v ali na opremi ali okoli nje ter hkrati spodbujati dejavnosti in lastnosti, za katere je znano, da koristijo otrokom, ker ponujajo dragocene izkušnje, ki jim bodo pomagale pri reševanju situacij izven otroškega igrišča. Ta del standarda EN 1176 se uporablja za opremo otroških igrišč, ki je namenjena za individualno in skupinsko rabo otrok, vendar ne zajema doživljajskih igrišč. Evropski standard EN 1176-1:2017 je pripravil tehnični odbor Evropskega komiteja za standardizacijo
CEN/TC 136 Športna oprema, oprema za igrišča in druga oprema za rekreacijo. Slovenski standard
spora glede besedila slovenskega prevoda v tem standardu je odločilen izvirni evropski standard v enem
od treh uradnih jezikov CEN. Slovensko izdajo standarda je pripravil tehnični odbor SIST/TC SPO Šport.
Odločitev za privzem tega standarda je v januarju 2018 sprejel SIST/TC SPO Šport.
