This standard specifies test methods, general requirements, levels of thermal performance and the marking for protective gloves against heat and/or fire. It is to be used for all gloves which protect the hands against heat and/or flames in one or more of the following forms: fire, contact heat, convective heat, radiant heat, small splashes or large quantities of molten metal. Product tests may only give performance levels and not protection levels.

Diese Norm legt spezielle Prüfmethoden, allgemeine Anforderungen und thermische Leistungen für Schutzhandschuhe gegen Hitze und/oder Feuer fest. Sie ist für alle Handschuhe anzuwenden, die die Hände gegen Hitze und/oder Feuer, in einer oder mehreren der folgenden Formen schützen: Feuer, Kontaktwärme, konvektive Hitze, Strahlungswärme, kleine Spritzer geschmolzenen Metalls und grosse Mengen flüssigen Metalls. Produktprüfungen können nur für Leistungsstufen und nicht für Schutzstufen erfolgen.

Cette norme spécifie des méthodes d'essai ainsi que des exigences générales et des performances thermiques pour les gants de protection contre la chaleur et/ou le feu. Elle s'applique à tous les gants qui doivent protéger contre l'un ou l'autre des risques suivants: feu, chaleur de contact, chaleur convective, chaleur radiante, petites projections de métal fondu et grosses projections de métaux en fusion. Les essais de produits ne peuvent s'effectuer que pour des niveaux de performances et non des niveaux de protection.
