This European Standard gives recommandations for inspection and maintenance hosereels and hose systems such that they continue to provide the service for which they were manufactured, supplied or installed i.e. to ensure a first emergency intervention to fight a fire before more powerful means can be implemented. This standard is applicable to hose reel and hose system installations in all types of buildings irrespective of the nature of use of the buildings.

La présente norme européenne fournit les recommandations relatives au contrôle et à la maintenance des robinets d'incendie armés et des postes d'eau muraux leur permettant d'assurer en permanence le service pour lequel ils ont été fabriqués, fournis ou installés, c'est-à-dire d'assurer une première intervention d'urgence pour lutter contre un incendie avant que des moyens plus puissants soient mis en oeuvre. La présente norme s'applique aux robinets d'incendie armés et postes d'eau muraux installés dans n'importe quel type de bâtiment, quelle que soit l'utilisation qui en est faite.
