A European Standardization Mandate is a formal request from the European Commission to the European Standardization Organizations (CEN, CENELEC, and ETSI) to develop European standards (ENs) in support of EU legislation and policies. Mandates are issued under Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012 and help ensure that products and services meet the essential requirements set out in EU directives and regulations.
BC-T-333 is a European Standardization Mandate titled "undefined". This mandate requests the European Standardization Organizations to develop harmonized standards supporting EU legislation. There are 4 standards developed under this mandate.
Standards developed in response to a mandate and cited in the Official Journal of the European Union become "harmonized standards". Products manufactured in compliance with harmonized standards benefit from a presumption of conformity with the essential requirements of the corresponding EU directive or regulation, facilitating CE marking and market access across the European Economic Area.
This EN (harmonised standard) specifies the technical characteristics (electrical and mechanical interface requirements and access protocol) under Articles 4(d) and 4(f) of Directive 91/263/EEC to be provided by a single terminal equipment which is intended (a) for pan-European approval and (b) for connection by two wires to an analogue interface of the PSTN. This interface is characterized by d.c. loop seizure and clearing, uses low frequency a.c. ringing below the speech passband to indicate an incoming call and in the transmission phase has an approximate bandwidth of 3kHz at the network termination point, and (c) for supporting any telephony service.

This TBR specifies the technical characteristics (electrical and acoustic requirements) under Article 4(g) of Directive 91/263/EEC to be provided by a single, handset telephony, terminal equipment which is intended: (a) for pan-European approval; and (b) for connection by 2-wires to an analogue interface of a PSTN. This interface is characterised by a d.c. loop to indicate seizure and clearing, low frequency a.c.ringing signals below the speech passband to indicate an incoming call and in the transmission phase has an approximate bandwidth of 3 kHz at the network termination point; and (c) for supporting the voice telephony justified case service.
