JTC 1/SC40 establishes an advisory group with the purpose to ensure strategic alignment of the work program and make recommendations to JTC 1/SC 40 on; Review and incorporation of new work in WG and SC 40 Business Plans Allocation of new work within SC 40 The balance of the work program across the WGs within SC 40 Cross-WG issues Other matters as appropriate And to investigate the need for and the feasibility of standardisation or guidance in new areas within the scope of SC 40 in order to determine: the importance of proposed new ideas the priority of any proposed new ideas the need for more detailed study of new ideas the preferred direction for future work gaps in the existing work program, including those determined by environmental scans and similar mechanisms

Le JTC 1/SC 40 établit un groupe consultatif dont l'objectif est de garantir l'alignement stratégique du programme de travail et faire des recommandations au JTC 1/SC 40 concernant : l'examen et l'intégration d'un nouveau sujet de travail dans les plans d'actions stratégiques du WG et du SC 40 l'attribution des nouveaux projets de travail au sein du SC 40 l'équilibre du programme de travail au sein des WG du SC 40 les sujets transverses aux WG d'autres sujets pertinents Il s’agit également d’analyser les besoins et la faisabilité de travaux de normalisation et d’orientation sur les nouveaux sujets relevant du domaine d’application du SC 40 afin de déterminer : l'importance des nouvelles idées proposées la priorité des nouvelles idées proposées la nécessité d'une étude plus détaillée des nouvelles idées l'orientation privilégiée pour les futurs travaux les manques dans le programme de travail existant, y compris ceux identifiés par les analyses environnementales et mécanismes similaires
