The particular requirements do not apply to: - onshore installations dedicated to supply inland navigation vessels for commercial and administrative purpose; NOTE 1 Such requirements are defined in HD 60364-7-730. - shore connection systems dedicated to ships that require, to prevent blackout, synchronisation of their power generation with the shore power supply, NOTE 2 Such requirements are defined in IEC/ISO/IEEE 80005-3. - internal electrical installations of ships; - the supply of houseboats when they are directly supplied from the public network; - the supply of anchored ships; - the supply of ships in dry docks; - the supply of ships by on-shore stand-alone generating sets. For the remainder of the electrical installation and for the electrical installations of houseboats, the general requirements of HD 60364 series together with the relevant particular requirements of HD 60364-7 apply.

IEC 60364-7-721:2017(E) lays down particular requirements applying to electrical circuits and equipment intended for the use of the caravan for habitation purposes. This new edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - a minimum height of not less than 500 mm above the base of the cylinders is now required for cables passing through the gas cylinder compartment; - it is now required that each independent installation shall be provided with its own main isolating switch which shall disconnect all live conductors and which shall be suitably placed in a readily accessible location in the caravan.

The particular requirements do not apply to the supply of house boats if they are directly supplied from the public network. The particular requirements do not apply to the internal electrical installations of pleasure craft or house boats. For the remainder of the electrical installation of marinas and similar locations the general requirements of IEC 60364 together with the relevant particular requirements of IEC 60364-7 apply. This second edition of IEC 60364-7-709 cancels and replaces the first edition, published in 1994. It constitutes a technical revision. The major changes with regard to the previous edition concern: - the removal of the requirements for the electrical installation in pleasure craft as these are now covered by IEC 60092-507; - the requirements of this part have been aligned with those in other parts of IEC 60364.

This second edition of IEC 60364-7-708 cancels and replaces the first edition, published in 1988, as well as its amendment 1 (1993). It constitutes a technical revision. The main changes with respect to the previous edition concern: - requirements for the electrical installation of caravans and motor caravans are now covered by Part 721; - requirements of this part are aligned with those in other parts of IEC 60364; - one 30 mA RCD now protects only one socket-outlet.
