CEN/TC 342/WG 3 - Hose assemblies for gas applications

This document specifies the requirements for material, design, manufacture, testing, marking and documentation of stainless steel pliable corrugated gas tubing kits for gas installation pipework with a maximum allowable pressure (PS):
-   less than or equal to 0,5 bar within a nominal size range from DN 10 to DN 50 (class 1); and
-   less than or equal to 2 bar within a nominal size range from DN 10 to DN 25 (class 2).
This document applies to stainless steel pliable corrugated gas tubing kits used for 1st, 2nd and 3rd family gases (see EN 437) in residential, commercial and industrial gas installations to be installed outdoors or indoors at a temperature range from –20 °C to +60 °C.
This document does not apply to:
-   pliable tubing without cover;
-   corrugated safety metal hose assemblies for connection to moveable appliances.
NOTE   This document does not cover the installation aspects of stainless steel pliable corrugated gas tubing kits.

This European Standard specifies general requirements for material, design, manufacture, testing, marking and documentation of corrugated metal hose assemblies for gas of diameter up to DN 300 for gases of the 2nd and 3rd families according to EN 437.
This European Standard applies to:
Corrugated metal hose assemblies for gas for the supply of combustible gas and having a maximum operating pressure (MOP) less than or equal to 16 bar.
This European Standard does not apply to:
-   corrugated metal hose assemblies for gas for engines including turbines and internal combustion engines as stated by Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC;
-   corrugated metal hose assemblies for the connection of domestic appliances using gaseous fuels according to EN 14800;
-   corrugated metal hose assemblies for gas buried in earth;
-   corrugated metal hose assemblies with non permanent detachable end fittings;
-   stainless steel pliable corrugated tubing kits in buildings for gas with an operating pressure up to 0,5 bar (EN 15266).
Users of this European Standard should take into account national standards and existing code of practice in the country of destination.

This European Standard specifies the requirements of performance, the material and the test methods of corrugated flexible safety metallic hose assemblies for the connection of domestic appliances, in order to achieve save operation.
The corrugated metal gas hose assemblies according to this European Standard are suitable for the connection of domestic appliances inside or outside a dwelling, using gas at a pressure lower than 0,5 bar.
