ECISS/TC 19/SC 2/WG 4 - Protected and sheathed strands for prestressing steels
Specifications for smooth 7-wire high strength steel strands without metallic coating or with a zinc or zinc-aluminium alloy coating, with a nominal diameter between 12,5 mm and 15,7 mm, protected by a protection product (grease, wax others) and by a high density polyethylene (HDPE) sheath, developed from the original French standards XP A 35-037-1 to 3 concerning protected and sheathed high strength steel strands.

The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is a public standards organization that brings together the national standardization bodies of 34 European countries. CEN provides a platform for developing European Standards (ENs) and other technical documents in relation to various products, materials, services, and processes, supporting the European Single Market.
A Subcommittee (SC) in CEN operates under a Technical Committee and focuses on a specific subset of the TC's scope. Subcommittees develop standards and technical specifications in their specialized area, reporting to their parent Technical Committee. They may also have working groups for detailed technical work.
This document specifies the specific requirements for adherent protected and sheathed strands (type A).
The general requirements for protected and sheathed high strength steel strands are given in prEN 10369-1.

This document specifies the requirements for uncoated high strength steel strands or zinc or zinc alloy coated high strength steel strands, encapsulated with a protection product and a sheath 1).
The intended use of these products is mainly the prestressing of concrete.
NOTE These products can also be used in other stress applications in the construction field (e.g. stay cables for bridges) where the protection of the products is not removed in use.
The standard applies only to products as supplied by the producer.
1) The word "sheath" used in the present document does not cover the sheaths as stated in mandate M/115 and specified in EN 523.
