Prezračevanje stavb - Kanali in elementi kanalov, klasifikacija tesnosti in preskušanje

Overview

EN 15727:2010 - "Ventilation for buildings - Ducts and ductwork components, leakage classification and testing" (CEN) specifies how to classify and test leakage of technical ductwork products used in HVAC systems. It applies to components installed in sheet metal ductwork (per EN 1505 and EN 1506) that perform additional functions beyond conveying air (for example, sound attenuators, filter boxes, duct fans). The standard defines airtightness classes, measurement methods and reporting requirements used by manufacturers, test laboratories and specifiers.

Key Topics and Requirements

  • Scope and exclusions: covers technical ductwork products but excludes common fittings (bends, reducers, T‑pieces), flexible ducts (EN 13180), insulation ductboards (EN 13403), dampers (EN 1751) and AHUs (EN 1886).
  • Airtightness classification (A–D): classes are defined with static pressure limits and an air leakage limit (fmax) that depends on test pressure; fmax is expressed per unit surface area and varies with ptest (ptest^0.65 relationship is used in the standard).
  • Measured quantities and symbols: total joint length (L), product surface area (Ap), virtual product surface area (Ac) (Ac = max(Ap, L × 0.5)), measured leakage (qvlmeasured) and tightness factor (fc = qvl / Ac).
  • Test method essentials:
    • Use a sealed test rig with end caps; subject sample to at least five positive and five negative test pressures up to the static pressure limits.
    • Record steady leakage when pressure is stable (±5% for 5 minutes).
    • Correct measured leakage for ambient temperature and barometric pressure to standard conditions (+20 °C, 101 325 Pa).
  • Instrumentation and calibration: flow meters and manometers must meet accuracy requirements; periodic calibration is mandatory.
  • Test report must include product design, joint length and area calculations, test pressures, corrected leakage values and achieved airtightness class.

Applications and Users

  • HVAC product manufacturers and R&D teams - for product design, quality control and CE marking evidence.
  • Independent testing laboratories - to perform standardized leakage testing and issue reports.
  • Specifiers, consulting engineers and contractors - to select components that meet project airtightness requirements and ensure system performance.
  • Tendering and procurement - use airtightness classes to compare products objectively.

Related Standards

  • EN 1505, EN 1506 (duct dimensions)
