SIST EN 301 371-2:2001 is the Slovene adoption of ETSI EN 301 371-2, a European Standard for Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) Cordless Terminal Mobility (CTM) testing. It specifies the Profile Specific Test Specification (PSTS) for the CTM Access Profile (CAP) Portable radio Termination (PT), so manufacturers, test laboratories and approval teams can check how a portable DECT implementation behaves against the CAP profile.

What does SIST EN 301 371-2:2001 specify?

SIST EN 301 371-2:2001 specifies the test specification for voluntary testing of EN 300 824, the CTM Access Profile (CAP). Its purpose is to support approval testing with a high probability of air interface inter-operability between equipment from different manufacturers in public, business and residential environments.

The document is organized as a profile test specification with these main parts:

  • Clause 1 - Scope
  • Clause 2 - References
  • Clause 3 - Definitions and abbreviations
  • Clause 4 - Relevant test cases list
  • Clause 5 - Additional test cases list
  • Annexes A to D - proformas for testing and reporting
AnnexWhat it covers
AProfile Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (IXIT) proforma
BProfile Conformance Test Report (PCTR) proforma
CSystem Conformance Test Report (SCTR) proforma
DSystem Conformance Statement (SCS) proforma

What are the key requirements of SIST EN 301 371-2:2001?

The standard defines what to test for CAP Portable Parts and how the test material is organized. It uses ISO/IEC 9646 as the conformance testing basis, but the Physical layer is described with text rather than the full ISO/IEC test methodology because that method is considered unsuitable there.

Test coverage by layer

Clause 4 groups the CAP PT tests by DECT layer: Network (NWK), Data Link Control (DLC), Medium Access Control (MAC), and Physical (PH). In practice, this means a lab checks the portable terminal’s call handling, mobility behavior, bearer handling, and radio-layer behavior separately, instead of treating the device as one black box.

Network layer testing

Clause 4.1 builds on EN 300 497-7 and also applies the relevant GAP PTS tests. The NWK test suite covers Call Control (CC), Mobility Management (MM), lower-layer management, link control, and call-independent supplementary services. This matters because CAP equipment must handle outgoing and incoming calls, handover, authentication, location procedures, access rights, timers, and supplementary services in a controlled way.

MAC layer testing

Clause 4.3 derives MAC tests from EN 300 497-2 and also applies the GAP PTS tests. The MAC suite includes broadcast services, paging, connection-oriented bearer set-up, handover, release, data transfer, and lower-layer management. For a tester, this is where the access behavior and bearer-level interoperability are checked.

DLC and PH layer coverage

Clause 4.2 states that the GAP PTS test cases apply to the DLC layer, and clause 4.4 states the same for the PH layer. This means CAP testing relies on the GAP test material for those layers, rather than adding new CAP-specific coverage there.

Additional CAP test purpose

Clause 5 adds CAP-specific coverage not already handled by the referenced DECT and GAP test suites. The only additional application-layer test purpose checks that the PT can store at least four subscriptions. In practice, that is a capability that affects how many network identities or profiles the device can keep ready for use.

IXIT and reporting

Annex A defines the Profile Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (IXIT) items used to configure the tests, including parameters such as emergency number length, second location area level, TPUI value and external handover ciphering behavior. Annexes B, C and D provide structured reporting forms so the results, test environment and declared capabilities can be recorded consistently.

What terms does SIST EN 301 371-2:2001 define?

  • Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) - the cordless telecommunications family used as the technical base for this profile test specification.
  • Cordless Terminal Mobility (CTM) - the service area covered by the CAP profile being tested.
  • CTM Access Profile (CAP) - the profile whose portable terminal behavior is tested by this standard.
  • Implementation Under Test (IUT) - the equipment or protocol implementation being exercised in the test campaign.
  • Profile Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (IXIT) - the extra implementation information needed to set up and interpret the tests.
  • Profile Conformance Test Report (PCTR) - the report form used to record the results of profile conformance testing.
  • System Conformance Statement (SCS) - the statement that identifies the system, the profile references and the related test records.

Who uses SIST EN 301 371-2:2001?

SIST EN 301 371-2:2001 is used by DECT and CTM equipment manufacturers, conformance test laboratories, and clients commissioning approval or interoperability testing. Quality and engineering teams use it to set up test campaigns, prepare IXIT information, and document conformance results for portable DECT implementations. It is also relevant where a buyer or integrator needs evidence that a CAP-based terminal has been tested against the profile.

Which standards are used with SIST EN 301 371-2:2001?

  • EN 300 824 - defines the CAP profile that this test specification evaluates.
  • EN 301 371-1 - gives the summary part of the CAP Profile Test Specification.
  • EN 300 175-1 to EN 300 175-7 - define the DECT Common Interface layers and related functions used by the tests.
  • EN 300 176 - provides the DECT approval test specification, including the Physical layer basis.
  • EN 300 444 - supplies GAP material that is used alongside CAP testing.
  • EN 300 494-2 - provides the GAP PTS test cases that apply to DLC, MAC and PH coverage here.
  • EN 300 497-1 to EN 300 497-9 - provide the DECT Common Interface test case library used to derive the CAP tests.
  • ISO/IEC 9646-1 to ISO/IEC 9646-7 - provide the conformance testing framework, ATS, TTCN, test realization, laboratory requirements and ICS concepts.

What does the SIST EN 301 371-2:2001 document contain?

The document contains layer-by-layer test group structures, test case indexes, and detailed test purposes for CAP Portable Termination behavior. It also includes Annex A IXIT questions and constraints that help a lab configure the implementation under test correctly.

Annex B gives a profile conformance report template with sections for identification, static and dynamic conformance, test campaign results and observations. Annex C gives the system conformance test report form, including test laboratory, client, SUT, profile and testing summary fields. Annex D gives the system conformance statement form used to identify the IUT, the related protocol specifications and the CAP profile reference.

ETSIETSI EN 301 371-2 V0.0.1 (1999-09)61ScopeThe present document contains the test specification for Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) CTMAccess Profile (CAP) Portable Part (PP) applications. The main objective of the CAP test specification is to provide approval tests giving a high probability of air interfaceinter-operability between different manufacturer 's equipment in different environments (i.e. public, business andresidential). The ISO standard for the methodology of conformance testing ISO/IEC 9646 Parts 1 to 7 [23] to [29] is used as thebasis for the test methodology, and as the basis for the test case specification. This is considered to be unsuitable forPhysical layer testing, and therefore a text description is used. The test cases listed in the present document have been derived from the DECT Common Interface (CI) Test CaseLibrary (TCL) [13] to [21]. In addition as far as the Physical layer is concerned EN 300 176 [9] applies. AdditionalCAP specific test cases are included where required. The Profile IXIT is based on the DECT CI PIXITs specified inEN 300 497 [13] to [21].2ReferencesThe following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of the presentdocument.· References are either specific (identified by date of publication, edition number, version number, etc.) ornon-specific.· For a specific reference, subsequent revisions do not apply.· For a non-specific reference, the latest version applies.· A non-specific reference to an ETS shall also be taken to refer to later versions published as an EN with the samenumber.[1]EN 301 371-1 (V0.0): "Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT); CordlessTerminal Mobility (CTM); CTM Access Profile (CAP); Profile Test Specification (PTS); Part 1:Summary".[2]EN 300 175-1: "Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT); Common Interface (CI);Part 1: Overview".[3]EN 300 175-2: "Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT); Common Interface (CI);Part 2: Physical Layer (PHL)".[4]EN 300 175-3: "Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT); Common Interface (CI);Part 3: Medium Access Control (MAC) layer".[5]EN 300 175-4: "Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT); Common Interface (CI);Part 4: Data Link Control (DLC) layer".[6]EN 300 175-5: "Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT); Common Interface (CI);Part 5: Network (NWK) layer".[7]EN 300 175-6: "Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT); Common Interface (CI);Part 6: Identities and addressing".[8]EN 300 175-7: "Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT); Common Interface (CI);Part 7: Security features".[9]EN 300 176: "Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT); Approval testspecification".SIST EN 301 371-2:2001
