IEC 61300-2-14:2021 is available as IEC 61300-2-14:2021 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 61300-2-14:2021 describes a procedure for determining the suitability of a fibre optic interconnecting device or a passive component to withstand exposure to the optical power which occurs during its operation. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2012. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
- harmonizing IEC 61300-1:2016 and IEC 61300-3-4:2012;
- addition of abbreviated terms;
- addition of Clause A.2 regarding input optical power from both ends.

Cette quatrième édition annule et remplace la troisième édition parue en 2012. Cette édition constitue une révision technique. Cette édition inclut les modifications techniques majeures suivantes par rapport à l'édition précédente :
- harmonisation de l’IEC 61300-1:2016 et de l’IEC 61300-3-4:2012;
- ajout de termes abrégés;
- ajout de l’Article A.2 relatif à la puissance optique d’entrée des deux extrémités.

1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote international
co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To this end and
in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications, Technical Reports,
Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC Publication(s)”). Their
preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested in the subject dealt with

International Standard IEC 61300-2-14 has been prepared by subcommittee 86B: Fibre optic
interconnecting devices and passive components, of IEC technical committee 86: Fibre optics.
This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2012. This edition
constitutes a technical revision.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous
edition:
