Ta preskusni postopek v skladu z določbami objave IEC 216-1 določa metodo za vrednotenje temperaturnega indeksa okrogle emajlirane žice za navitja. Ne velja za žico za navitja pravokotnega prereza ali z vlakni izolirano žico za navitja. Izkušnje so pokazale, da se nepotrebni krhkosti preskusnih vzorcev izognemo z velikostmi med 0,8 mm in 1,5 mm, ki so v splošnem primerne za delo in preskušanje.
