The standard EN 792 applies to hand-held non-electric power tools driven by rotary or linear motors, powered by compressed air, hydraulic fluid and intended to be used by one operator and supported by: - the operator's hand or hands - a harness - a suspension, e.g. a balancer. This part, EN 792-3, applies to hand-held, non-electric power tools used for rotary drilling of holes in all kinds of material, e.g. wood, metal, concrete, plastics etc. and tappers for tapping and cleaning threads in metal and plastics.

Die Maschinen sind dazu bestimmt, durch eine Person verwendet und - mit einer oder beiden Händen gehalten, - in einer Halterung, z.B. Aufhängevorrichtung, aufgenommen zu werden.

Cette partie, EN 792-3, s'applique aux machines portatives non électriques utilisées pour le perçage de trous par rotation dans toutes sortes de matériaux (p.e. métal, bois, béton, matière plastique) et aux taraudeuses utilisées pour tarauder et nettoyer des trous filetés dans le métal et dans le plastique.
