Welding - Grouping systems for materials - European materials (ISO/TR 20172:2009)

ISO/TR 20172:2009 establishes a European grouping system for materials for welding purposes, classified in accordance with the grouping system of ISO/TR 15608. It is also applicable for other purposes such as heat treatment, forming and non-destructive testing.
ISO/TR 20172:2009 covers grouping systems for the following standardized materials:
– steel;
– aluminium and its alloys;
– copper and its alloys;
– cast irons.

Schweißen - Werkstoffgruppeneinteilung - Europäische Werkstoffe (ISO/TR 20172:2009)

Dieser Technische Bericht enthält eine europäische Gruppeneinteilung von Werkstoffen zum Schweißen,
gegliedert nach der Gruppeneinteilung von ISO/TR 15608.
Er kann auch für andere Zwecke wie Wärmebehandlung, Umformen, zerstörungsfreie Prüfung angewendet
werden.
Dieser Technische Bericht enthält eine Gruppeneinteilung für die nachstehend genannten genormten
Werkstoffe:
a) Stahl;
b) Aluminium und seine Legierungen;
c) Kupfer und seine Legierungen;
d) Gusseisen.
In strittigen Fällen, wie zum Beispiel bei Schwankungen in der Dicke und Streckgrenze, gilt ISO/TR 15608.

L'ISO/TR 20172:2009 fournit un système de groupement européen des matériaux destinés au soudage, classé conformément au système de groupement de l'ISO/TR 15608. Il est également applicable pour d'autres fins telles que le traitement thermique, le formage et les contrôles non destructifs.
L'ISO/TR 20172:2009 couvre les systèmes de groupement des matériaux normalisés suivants:
aciers;
aluminium et alliages d'aluminium;
cuivre et alliages de cuivre;
fontes.

Varjenje - Razvrščanje materialov v skupine - Evropski materiali (ISO/TR 20172:2009)

To tehnično poročilo vzpostavlja evropski sistem za razvrščanje materialov v skupine za namene varjenja, ki so razvrščeni v skladu s sistemom za razvrščanje v skupine iz standarda ISO/TR 15608. Uporablja se lahko tudi za druge namene, kot so toplotna obdelava, oblikovanje in neporušitveno preskušanje. To tehnično poročilo zajema sisteme za razvrščanje naslednjih standardiziranih materialov v skupine: a) jeklo; b) aluminij in njegove zlitine; c) baker in njegove zlitine; d) litine. V primeru spora, če na primer pride do odstopanj v lastnostih, kot sta debelina in meja tečenja, se uporablja standard ISO/TR 15608.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards
adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an
International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.
In exceptional circumstances, when a technical committee has collected data of a different kind from that
which is normally published as an International Standard ("state of the art", for example), it may decide by a
simple majority vote of its participating members to publish a Technical Report. A Technical Report is entirely
informative in nature and does not have to be reviewed until the data it provides are considered to be no
longer valid or useful.

ISO/TR 20172 was prepared by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) Technical Committee
CEN/TC 121, Welding, in collaboration with Technical Committee ISO/TC 44, Welding and allied processes,
Subcommittee SC 10, Unification of requirements in the field of metal welding, in accordance with the
Agreement on technical cooperation between ISO and CEN (Vienna Agreement).
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO/TR 20172:2006), which has been technically
revised.

This Technical Report reflects the situation in November 2007. Changes in European material standards will
be taken into account in the next revision of this Technical Report.
Lists of former designations can be found in the relevant European materials standards.
For the materials not listed in this Technical Report, ISO/TR 20173:2005 and ISO/TR 20174:2005 are
applicable.

1 Scope
This Technical Report establishes a European grouping system for materials for welding purposes, classified
in accordance with the grouping system of ISO/TR 15608.
It is also applicable for other purposes such as heat treatment, forming and non-destructive testing.
This Technical Report covers grouping systems for the following standardized materials:
a) steel;
b) aluminium and its alloys;
c) copper and its alloys;
d) cast irons.
In case of dispute, for example where variations in properties such as thickness and yield strength occur,
ISO/TR 15608 applies.
