This part of EN 50518 specifies the minimum requirements for the design, construction, and functioning equipment for premises where the monitoring, receiving and processing of (alarm) signals generated by one or more intruder and hold-up alarm systems takes place as an integrated part of the total safety and security process. The requirements apply for applications in a remote configuration where multiple systems report to a single or multiple Alarm Receiving Centre(s) (ARC) as well as to a single site facility aimed for the monitoring and processing of alarms generated by one or more alarm systems installed within the perimeter of that particular site.

The purpose of the transmission system in a closed circuit television (CCTV) installation is to provide reliable transmission of video signals between the various CCTV equipments in security, safety and monitoring applications. Along with high-resolution video interfaces and transmission, the analogue video signals are still in use today for video transmission and offer interlaced scanning and the film aspect ratio of 4:3. The complexity of a video transmission system varies in accordance with the requirements of the installation.

This European Standard specifies the requirements for the performance, reliability and security characteristics of alarm transmission systems. It specifies the requirements for alarm transmission systems providing alarm transmission between an alarm system at a supervised premises and annunciation equipment at an alarm receiving centre. This European Standard applies to transmission systems for all types of alarm messages such as fire, intrusion, access control, social alarm, etc. Different types of alarm systems may in addition to alarm messages also send other types of messages, e.g. fault messages and status messages. These messages are also considered to be alarm messages in the context of this standard. The term alarm is used in this broad sense throughout the document. Additional alarm transmission requirements of specific types of alarm systems are given in the relevant European Standards.

This European Standard specifies the requirements for Intrusion and Hold-up Alarm Systems installed in buildings using specific or non-specific wired interconnections or wire-free interconnections. These requirements also apply to the components of an I&HAS installed in a building which are normally mounted on the external structure of a building e.g. ancillary control equipment or warning devices. The standard does not include requirements for exterior I&HAS. This standard specifies performance requirements for installed I&HAS but does not include requirements for design, planning, installation, operation or maintenance. These requirements also apply to I&HAS sharing means of detection, triggering, interconnection, control, communication and power supplies with other applications. The operation of an I&HAS shall not be adversely influenced by other applications. Requirements are specified for I&HAS components where the relevant environment is classified. This classification describes the environment in which an I&HAS component may be expected to operate as designed. When the requirements of the four environmental classes are inadequate, due to the extreme conditions experienced in certain geographic locations, special national conditions are given in Annex A. General environmental requirements for I&HAS components are described in Clause 7. The requirements of this European Standard also apply to IAS and HAS when these systems are installed independently. When an I&HAS does not include functions relating to the detection of intruders, the requirements relating to intrusion detection do not apply. When an I&HAS does not include functions relating to hold-up, the requirements relating to hold-up do not apply.

This document specifies the technical conditions for inspection and delivery, mechanical properties, dimensional tolerances and other requirements for rolled products made from wrought aluminium and wrought aluminium alloys with thicknesses from 0,150 mm to 0,500 mm for manufacturing rigid cans, closures, lids and tabs.

This standard specifies the requirements and classification that windows, doors, shutters and blinds must satisfy when tested in accordance with prEN 1523.  This standard is applicable to attacks by hand guns, rifles and shotguns on windows, doors, shutters and blinds complete with their frames and infills, for use in both internal an external locations in buildings. Shutters and blinds should be tested separately and not in conjunction with a window or door, in order to achieve classification in terms of bullet resistance.

This Standard specifies the requirements and tests for manually-activated trigger devices forming part of a social alarm system. This standard only applies to manually-activated trigger devices that transmit the alarm triggering signal to a local unit or controller via cable or wire-free radio transmission, i.e. Push button fixed; Pull switch fixed; Push button portable; Pull activated portable. This standard also gives guidance on automatically-activated trigger devices. For the requirements and tests applicable to such trigger devices, references are made to appropriate CEN/CENELEC standards for fire alarm, gas alarm and intruder alarm system components. This standard does not specify EMC emission or electrical safety requirements. These are covered by other standards.
