1 Scope
This document is applicable to iron (II) sulfate heptahydrate and iron (II) sulfate monohydrate used for
treatment of water intended for human consumption. It describes the characteristics of iron (II) sulfate
heptahydrate and monohydrate, specifies the requirements and the corresponding analytical methods
and gives information on their use in water treatment. It also determines the rules relating to safe
handling (Annex B) and use of iron (II) sulfate (Annex A).
